And we got a B1G regular season title this season which is more important than anything we did last season.Just a 1 seed and B1G tourney title (and what really should have been the B1G championship).
I think those people, including myself, weren't expecting a first game lossWhere are all the people who just 12 hours ago were loudly proclaiming "I literally don't care what happens in the Big Ten Tournament?"
Andre should NOT be playing in crunch time. He hasn't earned it this season. Hopefully he'll be back to 100% next year
The reason they had Plummer in was to keep the defense from trapping down on Kofi because they are worried about giving him the open three. That's why they had Trent on the other side as well with Curbelo and Hawkins spacing the floor.I questioned having Plummer in the last 4 minutes as well. I know you're looking for any kind of offense, but you didn't need a 3, and you were shooting 2 at the line every time (regardless of our woes, I'd rather be at the line than see someone shooting a fadeaway trey). I may get shot for saying this, but I'd rather see Monte in that situation than Plummer. Monte doesn't give up layups.
you're not a basketball expert. it shows with this take. You take the contested layup there 100% of the time with Belo. Shocked there wasn't a foul called. With how we were shooting today, taking a jump shot in that situation makes ZERO sense, and we admit defeat.I mean, maybe … but it bothers me that every guy on the floor didn’t look like they knew Plan A and Plan B as soon as that free throw is missed. I’m not a basketball expert, but I’ll take an open jumper over a contested layup, and you knew they were gonna contest Andre with everything at that point.
Not an intelligent note. Did you go to Iowa?Dear Brad.. don't recruit kids who can't make their free throws. Period.
If we make the sweet 16 or better nobody’s gonna give a crap about this lossThe loss sucks, but it doesn't mean a single thing for next week. Baylor looked terrible in the B12 tourney last year, and it didn't carry over. Michigan wasn't good in the BTT, still made the Elite Eight. UCLA lost in the first round of the Pac 12 tourney, made the final four.
I wonder if Hawkins was where he’s supposed to be? If Frazier draws the wing defender, isn’t Coleman supposed to be in the corner? The no look pass bit Trent on that play, tough loss. Played soft pretty much the whole game. Not even sure what to think of Plummer at this point, because that was awful.
This. If we don't have a drought in the first half, we win by a few. I was excited when he brought in the energy from the bench (Belo, Payne, Goode, and RJ), but they couldn't score either! Hopefully we're full strength next week with Grandy back in the fold. The one concern of mine is our scoring droughts. It’s been a problem thru the last half of our season. 3 starting guards shooting 25% or less. Won’t go very far with those stats. No consistency except for Kofi.
I think this is an issue especially when he decides to pump fake and drive to the lane to pass. Teams know he wont pull up, shoot a floater or anything so when he does that they just have to guard the passing lanes.DMW attempted zero shots...SMH
You mean like when it mattered most against Iowa to win the conference title?Brad likes to point out how the teams practices defense 2/3 of the time. Yeah it shows bc your offense is an utter train wreck when it matters most.
Fine, I’ll defer to your knowledge. However, it doesn’t take a basketball expert to see that we rarely have a set play and a contingency plan in these situations. If the team knew the plan on a miss was Andre taking it to the hoop (and that’s fine, but they SHOULD know that), three other guys should have been preemptively swarming the glass with one posted at the three-point line in case the trees are too tall.you're not a basketball expert. it shows with this take. You take the contested layup there 100% of the time with Belo. Shocked there wasn't a foul called. With how we were shooting today, taking a jump shot in that situation makes ZERO sense, and we admit defeat.
