I am officially an insider...

I was ironically visiting friends in Iowa City last weekend and was downtown that night. While I have no more direct knowledge of the inner workings of the actual fight than anyone else who saw the videos online, I WAS at dc’s earlier in the night. I have no idea how far this will go, but I think the security cameras in dc’s (and I know for a fact they exist and were running) will NOT be kind to JBo.

Most have probably heard that he was allegedly throwing ice (absolutely true), but I have heard two people claim glass, as well, and a friend of mine had to go home early due to glass in her foot. I don’t want to defend ever hitting someone else, but JBo might have been asking for someone to finally do it, and this jives with every single other story about his personality on that campus.
Thanks for the info "insider" :)

That said, compared to information on JB, I'm more curious about your strategic placement of the word ironically.

Krush and the other student sections are going to have fun with this next season.
I hope not. It seems a bit low for the Krush, which does charitable work, to make a display of guffawing and chortling at a rival school having a player knocked out. It’s no better than when they made fun of the Jamar Smith incident. The Krush can do better.

Indeed, after both Jamar and McBride being busted for drunk driving the Iowa fans were chanting "I-L-L"..."D-U-I"

You mean this Krush?

You can both do charitable works and needle a loudmouth who deserves it. They're not mutually exclusive things.

Sure, but the Francon poster and what you’ve described are different from my specific concern. Neither of those are joking about a physical assault someone suffered.

You're really that determined to stand up for a dude who was throwing ice and glass at people in a crowded bar, huh?

Iowa fans aren't even bothering with that.

And spare me the lecture on violence not being a way to solve anything. I'm say it again: Bohannon was throwing ice and glass at other patrons. That's careless AND dangerous and can be labeled assault as well. Not to mention stupid. My 7 year-old nephew knows better than to do that. Why doesn't a 23 year-old?

Because your 7-year-old nephew is probably smarter than Bohannon and definitely more mature???

I've looked for a link to verify this 'assault'. Can't find one. Could you post one?

We literally had someone on this board who was in town and posted about it.

There will be no official news source saying he did it because the Iowa athletic department is the one who released the official statement. They're not going to acknowledge their player was acting like a dbag and had it coming. This is the organization that hired Fran after all.

Perhaps I should have asked for a credible link.

Replying to your points...

Your Point 1)
It’s not about “standing up for a dude who throw ice and glass...” I don’t really care if it was a different player from a different team. The point was what are student sections making displays about. Whether it’s Jamar Smith “I L L D U I” or someone getting assaulted. Hopefully that clears it up for you...I said nothing to “stand up for a guy throwing ice and glass.” This seems like you jumping to conclusions and putting a bunch of words in someone’s mouth. Sometimes it really isn’t necessary to impute motives or meaning beyond what’s actually said.

Your Point 3) “And spare me the lecture on violence not being a way to solve anything.” Again, my point was simply in response to what one guy said, that the fan bases were going to do stuff with this incident. All I commented on was if it looks good or not if groups in the stands like Krush or other student groups, are making their display chortling about it. I don’t care if it’s someone from a different team...say the player had bones broken or their career was ended...is that appropriate for fans to be waving a banner about? The Francon poster is in good fun...laughing about someone’s injury or assault is different.
So again this is about what the fans do with it at the games...there was not any “lecture on violence not being a way to solve anything.” This is another example of you putting words in someone’s mouth and getting off topic onto things that interest you, for whatever reason. If that interests you fine but that’s not what I was talking about.

Thanks for enlightening me with your superior understanding of the way the world works. If you want to disagree with my particular points fine. But it seems like it will be futile to try any discussion with you if you assume any number of things beyond what I’m actually saying and be like, your position is x, y, and z, spare me this and that. We can try “so you’re saying A, so you’re saying B, etc” until the cows come home. I’m not trying to argue these other things you mentioned.

I explained to you why there wasn't one. Iowa Athletic's PR machine is getting out in front of it. We'll see what the cameras show in the police investigation, but I'm inclined to believe he was throwing ice. The glass may not be as likely (I don't know any college bars that give out actual glass cups as a preventive measure), but ice will still hurt like hell and isn't acceptable either.
