The 4th or 5th time we've seen this script this year. Defense keeps us in it for 2 1/2 quarters but eventually wears out because the offense can't do anything at all.

The o-line is bad. The receivers are worse.

Interesting how BTN never, ever showed the stands.

I'm assuming that if McGee stays he is going to want to run a spread offense with a dual threat qb. None of that personnel is in place at this time. I guess it will take at least three more years to recruit the required players?

Watching on TV today. I only made it till half. I still don't blame our coaches. i don't like some of the calls. But I need to see a couple years of recruiting.

Tough game today. Lets beat Northwestern next week and end the season on a positive note.

That's probably true. But our receivers appear to be incapable of getting separation from defenders.

That has been true all year. It is frustrating that so many throws miss the mark but then when we do get separation and hit the receiver, we have far too many drops. I expect our receiving corps to be better next year. We need to find a QB to compliment them, whether that is developing the guys we have or finding someone else. I expect the coaching staff to get it done and hope it happens sooner rather than later.

Waiting in line at United customer service for them to tell me that my bad trip is going to be one day longer because the airline industry is incapable of the handling a contingency called wind. Figured I'd read the game thread to see if maybe God was smiling on me in some other way.

Wasn't long before I was reminded that God has smiled Illinois football.

Lovie and coaches need the right personnel ..... this ain't it. Building this is not a 1-2 season fix. I've waited this long.... Defense did all it could.

That is a definite problem, fortunately help is on the way. Smalling, Smith and Green are significant upgrades and receiver is probably the easiest spot to see early time on football field.

Sorry, I bought tickets and showed up for this season. Not 3 seasons from now. How is it that we have a worse record than Cubit and Beckman? With the same players.

Maybe 400 students in Block I (about a 15x20 square for attempted card stunts + stragglers). I'd guess maybe 12-15K in the seats, 25% Iowa fans.

About what you'd expect. Pretty awful.

I've been asking myself that since 2003. Maybe someday we'll be good, and these season tickets will finally be worth it...

Illinois has had bad times in football in the past 20 or so years, but man Timmy Beckman really set us back. Gonna take time but I trust Lovie can do it.:shield::chief:

Learning new schemes is tough. Learning new schemes that require different positions and responsibilities than which you were recruited for is even tougher

Not Saban, Not Meyer or even Belichek were going to coach this thing to whatever unrealistic standards you had coming into the season. The roster lacks in almost every area. Sure there are a sprinkling of good players but far too few to compete.

I'm as impatient as anyone but have you scanned the roster or recruiting rankings over the last few years? What did you think was going to happen?

Not the same players. Freshmen on the O-line and defensive backfield. New linebackers. No Josh Ferguson. No Geronimo. No Dudek (i know he missed last year too). Bottom line, Illinois football has a VERY long way to go to be respectable and I don't think it has much to do with this coaching staff. I hope (and think) Lovie and staff can do it, but it will take 4-6 years. If this staff can't I don't know if anyone can because Lovie was the best possible candidate the Illinois could have possibly landed imo.

Well, we knew we hired a defensive minded coach. But no touchdowns in two weeks? Brutal. Even my alma mater Georgia Southern has stunk it up this year....
