Time to cut your losses on the offensive side of the ball. No development has taken place, head scratching play calls all year, less than zero confidence from the most important position on the field in your qb. The off coord was the most questionable hire by a country mile. Make a move in the offseason BB, I for one have seen enough. Defense has played well enough in the second half of the year for at least two more wins than we have. Squarely on the offense.

Edit: I know it won't happen with the contract situation, but that is why each and every hire is so critical in a rebuild.

The only story this year is the astonishing things Walters has accomplished with this defense. Imagine what this season might have looked like if we had an offense that was designed around something other than 3 and outs.

The Kirby Joseph pick setting us up followed by Peters air-mailing a wide open Luke Ford on 4th and 3 two minutes later is this whole season in a nutshell.

I agree with a lot of this. But I really do wonder how hamstrung Peterson is by our poor passing game. The run offense has been pretty good this year. Then the passing game just seems ridiculously vanilla.

Before the targeting penalty on Iowa, the penalty count was Illinois 9 and Iowa 3, similar to the latest basketball game this is just BS, no team really commits more penalties than the other. This is #homecookin which we never seem to get.

Also looking forward to having an average QB or honestly a better Offensive Coordinator (need to cut your losses here) Tony P is just not good (I get we may not have the talent but the play calling is atrocious).

With that said, let’s go crush the Mildcats, no excuses!

I don’t think Peterson is a good OC, but I’m not sure Jesus Christ himself could coach an offense that has absolutely no passing compliment. Wide open receivers overthrown by a mile, receivers dropping balls that are catchable, a QB that doesn’t understand the basic premise of game situation, and on and on.

I mean, what do you do?

Couple things about Peters.
His good is almost great. But his bad is abysmal. Complete lack of confidence in himself. When the announcer said "frustrated Brandon Peters" going to commercial I knew it was over. He gets in a funk and can't get out.

Consistently misses open receivers. Always late on his decision to make the throw, which makes his throws dangerous and easy for defense to make plays on. He almost missed Washington on that Penn State game winner.

He's a sixth year player who looks like an average FCS freshman quarterback.

Our offense did outscore Iowa's. (Unless you count that deflection pick 6 as negative points for the offense.)

Get a new OC and QB? ;)

I have watched Illinois lose a lot of football games. I have never been so aggravated after a game. The combination of it being against Iowa, and it being a winnable game, and the terrible FS1 broadcast, are all contributing factors I’m sure.

i'm not a religious man, but i don't think jesus calls as many passing plays on third and short with a struggling qb. maybe there's scripture that points to the contrary

It's tough to talk about how the running game is so much better than the passing game then still complain that we sometimes run the ball on 3rd and 5. If you want to blame Petersen for not coaching Brandon better that's fair, but otherwise his play has been so poor that's it hard to criticize gameplans and play calling. If anything, the fact that the running game has been so strong despite the opposition knowing we can't pass is to his credit.

Another winnable game lost by an inept QB and OC......Please don't say BP got this many passing yards or that many TD passes....he's a liability and the OC needs to be demoted to an AC and hire someone who has a clue how to manage an offense.....

The Illini defense is the only reason we have been in all the games except for the UVA game.....Playing with pride and determination only to be forced to play more minutes than needed if we had a QB and OC who wouldn't have so many 3 and out's.....

14 points by the IDIOTS scored on a kick return TD and a pick 6 TD.................I know I'm going all Beckman on my premise but take away those 14 points and we win .....Yeah , again , i know I'm being Beckman-ish but what else can anyone say ....With an average middle of the pack B1G offense we would be sitting with a winning record....But , we have had to stomach a gut wrenching season of BP and his shortcomings.....

George M. is praising BP on the radio interview but what else can he say publicly...............

Another season of what if's on the FB side of the Illini programs..............Glad basketball is back and I hope BB can find a beating heart QB to replace the substandard QB situation we have now.........

Goodbye and Good Riddance to the Brandon Peters era. What a liability. Throws almost everything too high or behind the wide open receiver, not giving them any chance to catch the ball. Had high hopes when he transferred in from Michigan, but what a wasted 3 years waiting for him to grow into the position. BB please find a QB that can handle the position and not be overwhelmed by it like Peters was.
