I agree to a point. Play somebody else at qb. You cannot tell me Peters puts us in the best position to move the ball. Also, have an idea what you want to do on that side of the ball. I guess our line has been such a major disappointment overall this year that we moved from a run first to pass first offense??? Chase Brown runs for 223 against PSU and 147 against Minn and Iowa's d line is that much better than theirs? I find that suspect to say the least. IW had 17 on two carries (but he only got 2) and I do not think he was targeted for a pass all day.

The first drive was a thing of beauty, but we did not see anything remotely similar to that the rest of the afternoon. A complete game plan has not been put together on the offensive side of the ball all season. That is the responsibility of the OC unless I'm totally unaware of how football staffs operate.

Edit: Apologies, IW did have two catches. My mistake. Still, criminally under utilized IMO.

13 touches for Chase Brown and 6 for McCray, who were both averaging roughly 3 yards a carry, in a close game, is uh…something? They both literally carried against Penn State and combined for 35 touches against Minnesota.

The passing game is not just a weakness, it’s a GLARING weakness. What do the coaches see that gives them confidence in airing the ball out? A casual observer could figure out that the Illinois passing game hurts more than it helps.

I have a question for my brothers here.......I see all the complaining about announcers almost every game....Why don't you listen to the Illini team of brian B. and Martin O. ????........Dan supplies the radio feed and it's easy to sync the radio feed to the TV broadcast.......I just don't understand why anyone would listen to the TV broadcast announcers , especially if the announcer say a 7 point deficient is a two score deficient ......mind boggling ......

A bright spot. Everyone knows we need a transfer QB next year and a whole new O-Line, but we return 9 starters from today on D. This is the best Illini defense in the last 10 years and tbh we don't even have a lot of talent on it.

I know this loss kills especially because of our hatred of Iowa and how winnable this game was. But in year one of Bret ball we look like an honest to God B1G team and better than any team since at least 2014/2010.

I get the frustration, but I’m looking at it like this: The defense played another solid game, on the road in a hostile environment. That’s a positive. The offense put up 23 on one of the better defenses in the conference, on the road in a hostile environment, in spite of the turnovers, missed receivers and dropped passes. Lots to improve on there, but that’s more points than I expected us to put up. I doubt BB being there in person would have made the difference, but it doesn’t help to not have your leader present.

Iowa deserves their top 20 ranking and we played right with them. Add in a few breaks and eliminate a mistake or two and we could have won.

That’s a far cry from where we were a year ago. If we don’t beat Northwestern, I will be singing a different tune.

That's my worry. It would be so like IL football to come out next week and lose. Hope not. Hope they prove that they have really turned a corner. I will be watching just like the Illinois fan I am.

Disappointing, but I actually have hope for Illini football again. So many winnable games this year and we’re not getting blown out or totally out-coached.

Amazing progress, despite the frustration. This wasn’t going to be a one or even two year turnaround.

use the pause button on both of the TV feed and the radio feed ....I seldom have to re-sync either but it's easy if you see the need.....I have Hulu live , so I watch the game on my computer on one window and have the radio feed that Dan gives us on another window.....

sometimes i don't go maximized on the tv feed so I can pull up radio feed and sync if needed.....Based on what I have read all season about the terrible announcers on TV I wouldn't care if the radio and TV weren't synced.........

I do this on the basketball games also......it's how I have been doing it for 4-5 years now....

Beat Northwestern, and this would be a better than expected season for a first year Illini coach. Lose, and I will be frustrated too.

Without having much, if any, semblance of an offense the boys played a team that's #20 in the Sagarin ratings (and #17 in the polls) close on their home field and senior day for 58 minutes, keeping our defense on the field for 35 minutes, and yet we were in it until 2 mins remained. Remove that kickoff return and pick six and we're sitting in a more desirable place.

When we win the Big Ten West Division three seasons from now that's how I will choose to remember this game. No more, no less. You may remember it as you like.

I thought Brandon Peters was better today. His 2nd interception had a chance to get caught. Luke Fords 4th down pass was catchable, plus we had 4-5 crucial drops. A dropped interception and stupid penalties all contributed to this loss. Yes Brandon Peters can be way better and I look forward to a new QB taking over but I don’t think he cost us the game. We just didn’t make the timely winning plays today.

There seemed to be a heck of a lot more misfires to open receivers than there were drops.
