Excellent! Add that to his recent classroom honor--he gets it! Just the kind of kid to build a program around. Congatulations on the honors, it won't be your last!

Very well deserved. This overall B1G freshman class is one of the best in a long time.
Stone, Swanigan, Happ, Murphy, Sanders, Bryant, Watson, Lyle, Davis and JCL just to name a few. Since there is only a first team for all B1G frosh, JCL probably won't make it. I think only the coaches vote, no media.

Very, very nice. JCL is indeed a quality student athlete!

True. According to http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/conferences/big-ten/leaders/fg3-player-season.html

85 would put JCL as tied for 4th all time in a single season at Illinois, and Top 50 in the B10

10 more to go.

Both Luther and Dee made that list because they played in 39 games (NCAA FF season) that year and JCL will probably only get 32 or 33 or 34 games.
To put things in proper perspective, Luther had 16 three's as a frosh and Dee had 51 as a true frosh.

Last time we had a B1G freshman of the week award, was 2013-2014 season and KN won it twice--2/24 & 3/4.

some big names up there on that list, Congrats to him for his honors!

I went thru that whole list of B1G 3 pointers made and only 3--Sean Wink w/86 and D'Angelo Russell w/95 and of course Bradford (85) did it as freshman. IMO, JCL will end up in the 85 range, so that would make him # 3 or 4 all time freshman made 3's in the B1G.
He would have more as a frosh than guys like Diebler, Staukas, Valentine, Respert, etc did as freshman. Pretty rare air.

Teams with our current record this late in the season, usually seem defeated. But for a player to win his first award this late in the season, tells me that coach still has them bought into learning and growing despite the record. (i.e. he hasn't lost the locker room).

Richly-deserved accolade for JCL and a little overdue, as far as I'm concerned. Get Bradford's record in your crosshairs, young man!

JCL is at 75 three's made, so his magic number to catch Bradford is 10. What is even crazier is Nunn is quietly @ 65 and he has missed 9 games.
Next years team is going to be The Bomb Squad for sure. :thumb:

JCL is a great shooter. I hope he continues to progress and gets the tools around him to maximize his exposure.
