Best thing right now is that Black's case was brought down and given a suspension and so far Tate is cleared. Really helps to save face for the University that we don't have 3 separate players to have to deal with what to do. (Obviously this is huge for Tate, just discussing UofI basketball as a whole). Now all we have to do is see what happens for Nunn and go from there

No, but they did say that shes an experienced prosecutor who wouldnt go to trial without a winnable case.

And lo and behold...

she had a garbage case and kept it alive in hopes of a plea...this is standard operating procedure for a great many prosecutors....I have seen it more than I care to remember in the many criminal cases I litigated in Illinois...and a lot worse, especially in Cook County

No disagreement here.

By the way, if we're apportioning blame here, the cops bear some of it as well. Apparently Tate had a relatively airtight alibi all along, which given that he was not at the scene where they found the girl and is a public figure who is not about to go on the lam or something, would have made further investigation a smarter play under the circumstances and would likely have nipped this in the bud before it even reached the State's Attorney.

....Jaylon is fortunate to be a public figure at least in one sense....harder to railroad a defendant if lots of eyes are on the case...the downside is that whatever privacy Jaylon was entitled to is subject to those eyes as well..wish him luck...the right thing happened here

No it's not. Because State's Attorney Julia Rietz makes that decision.
While I am not going to equate this case with the Duke Lacrosse case, it does serve as a reminder that our civil servants and elected officials are not infallible and sometimes act criminally themselves. I recommend watching the whole 30 for 30 film on the case that was aired a couple months ago, but here's a link to some key takaways
