Keaton Wagler named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Is there a rule that says a freshman can’t be B1G Player of the week? Not saying he would be worthy, just asking?

Can a freshman be B1G player of the Year?

Would love to see him back to get stronger and more experience. But if he is projected at 11th more power to him. What a fine by the staff.

At what point do they drop the freshman part and just name him big player of the week. He may not be putting up the numbers of some of the other players but you can't deny the impact he has in several key wins we have had this year. I for one thought Petro would be our primary ball handler and Keaton would be getting 5 to 10 minutes tops. Boy was I wrong, our offense revolves around this young man and we are lucky for it. He brings a calming presence like a seasoned veteran. I have never seen anything like it.

I am so snake bitten that I get triggered every time I see a players name on the front page. “Out for the season”, “Transferring”, “Suspended” “suspected of tax evasion". I go right to the worst possible scenario.
Congratulations Keaton. Well deserved.

You're not the first to say this, and I'm not the first to agree, but 100% this.

How many other players, let alone freshmen players, would have been agitated and upset with that end-game hook and hold nonsense? He just gets up, dusts himself off, and gets ready for the next play.

This is a piece we have been missing (in varying degrees depending on the season) since the end of the Ayo days. Innate leadership.

Yes but it likely wont happen much in this league with the quality at the top.
