Any of the clowns saying that this will tarnish Kofi's legacy needs to sit down and put their velcro new balance shoes and tall socks on and shut up. This is a new world, and I don't think you'd say Michael Jordan or Jerry Rice or Joe Montana tarnished their legacy at their original teams by leaving. Get yours, Kofi and thanks for all the fun.
I heard this may be coming but it sounded a little to crazy too believe. UI is still in the driver's seat, but this is all new territory, so who knows. Also, his eligibility may be in question.

I meant he'll be the guy anywhere. Sure, at Kentucky, it'll be more short lived but blue bloods aside, it's pretty much the same situation anywhere else. You're free to think what you think. I disagree.

Umm more money than what he’s already been promised if he returns.
As a fringe draft prospect that just got feedback that was not what you hoped - you ESPECIALLY keep all doors open and maximize what leverage you have left to heave around. The deadline for one of those was fast approaching so you check the box and opt in to the portal before the door closes. #1 has to look out for #1.
I’m curious and maybe this has been discussed elsewhere, but do people think in general endorsement deals for someone at Kofi’s level will be national or local? It just seems to me that very few players would warrant national type deals. I mean Garza was the prohibitive favorite to win POY this past year, and I just can’t imagine a national company signing a deal with him this past year if it had been legal. I think in some ways Kofi might be more compelling than Garza, but I just don’t see the national deals for him either — whether at Illinois or a blue blood.
I'd imagine similar to sneaker deals, companies take a chance. New Balance took a chance on Kawhi Leonard and that paid off. I forsee national companies betting on various Player of the Year candidates. Kofi included

Sponsors of the team (let’s say Busey, for instance) have made a marketing investment that becomes more valuable as the team gets better. So Busey now has an incentive to make a marketing investment in Kofi to get him to stay.
I think Kofi is going to be extremely marketable wherever he goes. He’s a fun player and there aren’t many (any?) guys in the NCAA like him. He’s right to see what he can line up in terms of endorsements and keep his options open. But he’s also not necessarily going to go to the highest bidder. We just need to get close enough to get him to stick with the devil he knows.
I have no idea if we’re gonna be able to do that. But there are folks associated with the program who could, if they wanted to.
People really need to lay off of him on twitter. Kofi doesn't have the thickest skin in the world.

Social media is so toxic in general, It's not possible for people to not come at Kofi. Not saying it's deserved, but every fan base is going to have that segment of deplorables who for their 5 seconds of fame is going to attack a player the second something goes wrong.
At this point the damage is going to happen and you just hope Kofi and Co. will pay attention to the amount fans who will support him which will undoubtedly be dwarf the amount of negative comments.
