A 3 game suspension in football is 25% of the season. That's equivalent to about 9 games in a basketball season.
I know, but things are different now. No shot he gets 25% of the season

If we were a blue blood (or LSU) it would probably be swept under the rug with nothing. Now, we are Illinois...

If we get good news from Tipton more often I might have to make a new gif.

In 2019, James Wiseman received a 12 game suspension for $11,500 that was paid to his mother in 2017.

I know that the NIL passed now, but Kofi was out there selling these things ahead of time. Maybe he's got some funky accounting to prove he was actually going to donate all of that money to charity and therefore didn't benefit himself with those sales? IDK.

Best thing I’ve read in a long time. Duke basketball beat writers talking about the fear of Kofi in the ACC at FSU. Even better that he states he thinks Kofi will be back at Illinois, but so nice to see Duke fans running scared of having to play our guys. 😎
Huh. There was a rumor that Coach K talked to Kofi and the assumption was it was a pitch to consider Duke. And I’m sure it was, but it may have also been defensive to make sure Kofi walked away sour on FSU. “Come to Duke and we’ll take great care of you. Coach Underwood has a good program at U of I also, I wouldn’t touch FSU with a ten foot pole, but consider us. Good bye and FSU stinks.”

I know someone had mentioned that Kofi’s assists actually dropped between FR and SO years and I think I just realized why: Feliz granduated. As a freshman, I would bet at least half of Kofi’s assists came after Feliz fed Kofi in the post, Feliz’s man doubled Kofi, then Feliz cut right below the free throw line where Kofi would dump it to Feliz for a floater. Towards the end of the season it felt like they were good for one of those per game at least.

Listening to KSR clips from this week just for fun and now I’m confused. It seems like Kentucky fans have been saying it’s ok they are missing on Kofi because they have Jalen Duren coming in instead and he’s a better fit. But doesn’t he have another year of high school left? I get that it’s great to think of a great player coming in in the not too distant future, but wouldn’t the ideal scenario for them be Kofi one and done this season and Duren one and done the following season? What am I missing here?

Edit: I see he’s reclassifying. First place I looked had him as class of 2022 still.

No fair answering your own questions.

He announced that over the weekend, which does provide a bit of credence to the theory that UK pulled back on its pursuit of Kofi. Even so, they can’t possibly believe that Duren will have a bigger impact on winning than Kofi would in 2021-22 & there is very little chance of Duren having a sophomore season. Still makes little sense…

Kofi would definitely have a bigger impact. I believe Duren might be a better fit with Oscar though.

It's a total no-brainer that you have to take an AA and NPOY candidate if he's interested in transferring in but, in all fairness, there was quite a bit of angst on the UK boards back when they were trying to figure out how Kofi and Oscar could be on the floor at the same time. There is also a rumor floating around that Oscar specifically voiced opposition toward the possibility of adding Kofi to the roster. No idea if that's true, but it adds some credence to the idea that bringing Kofi in could have led to some serious chemistry issues.

Personally, I don't particularly care why or how it happened. If Kofi comes back to play another year at Illinois, I'm not looking that gift horse in the mouth. I'll be too busy planning my Final Four watch party.

Loren Tate - Kofi will announce his return to Illinois tomorrow. This has been in the works for a week. 🤞 - Could be the kiss of death. He also predicted EJ Liddell would transfer to Illinois a few months ago.
