Wolverine fans are talking a lot of trash on Twitter. Whatever, that just means they've taken notice and consider us a threat.
They were celebrating what they thought was a loss of our All-American center. Now we are favorites, again. Or, at the least, in the conversation with two other teams.

I apologize to Kofi for assuming he was going to abandon us for the blue blood program. Even if he did try to go, he showed a lot of maturity throughout the whole process and cemented himself as an ILLINI LEGEND by staying here! He does truly love it here and has shown his Illinois Loyalty, and I’ll always love him for that. You’re the best Kofi!!!!!

Yeah, what a day. Shows you how much Kofi means to this program. He is an Illini great.

As fans, we were lucky to have him pick Illinois to begin his collegiate career. Now, to have him for year 3, what can you say.

Thank you Kofi and go Illini

It will be interesting to see who will be the spark off the bench when the starters can't get going. It will happen maybe as much as a handful of games against good teams. Will it be Grandison, Hawkins, Plummer, Hutch, Podz, Damonte, Melendes, Goode, Payne, or someone I am overlooking? I am sure BBV, Serven, and Lieb are all planning to break out and prove they can play too. Curbelo and Grandison were pretty dependable last year and both should have become starters. Need a Feliz/Curbelo coming off the bench. If any take that role to heart, they can become a hero to Illini Nation. All those guys want to start and feel they could....but only five get that nod. It will be another very interesting year. Like last season, it is also likely that a slow start will not be at all surprising as it will take some time for them to become familiar with their roles and each other. Trent and Kofi are the only likely starters and there will be a fight for floor time in SFC like never before. Let's all hope BU can keep the locker room in harmony and all buy into the goals.

AC definitely proved that it can be "cool" coming off bench.

I remember AC discussing (in early interview) how he liked studying flow of opponent before he got on court.

any/all players who can provide a spark on D and offer an outside threat will be valuable...rotate them all early and see who is hot on D and 3.

ok… probably dreaming here, but just thought of a NIL scenario that could actually keep good college players in college.

what if Kofi is first team all American, but similar to Garza is still not getting great feedback from the NBA. Maybe they have him as a late second. But he’s making $1M+ NIL. Is it possible the NIL keeps him around for his senior year?

I had the same thoughts earlier today. This may make the college game “older.”

I keep forgetting about Hawkins, our frontcourt is going to be solid. Possibly Hawkins becomes that stretch 4 we need, although we went something like 15-3 with Grandison as the 4.

In this case it is Kofi...but I have a general transfer portal question. If a player enters the portal but returns to their original school, does that count as their one-time no-sit transfer? Are they eligible in the future to enter the portal and transfer and be eligible to play the following season? I know part of the risk of entering the portal is that the existing scholarship is no longer guaranteed, but had not heard if entering the portal or actually transferring to a new school consumes that one time exemption.

My wife: *eyeroll*
My wife:

Illini nation anxiously awaits an official Kofi announcement.
I bought a Kofi official practice Jersey from Kofi’s trunk and vowed to wear it all week until the Kofi return is finally confirmed.
My wife is really hoping for good news….the sooner the better.
I am ‘ripe’ but cannot jinx things.
Please Kofi…..no last minute surprises.

Updated edit:
Much to the dismay of my wife and those around me, I believe this shirt can be worn at least through the weekend.
Cheers!!!!!!!!!
I L L ….

My wife: “No more beer……and change your damn shirt.”

If Plummer doesn’t start my money is on him. Hutch, Coleman, DMW, even one of the Freshmen are easy to imagine. I also think Hawk will beak out. What a f-ing day man.
