According to the University, there were sellouts in both seasons.

Yea I see what you were saying. That is most likely tickets sold, not actual crowds (just like I don’t remember the NC game in 2016 being sold out). The OSU game in 2011 stands out to me because of all the hype (beat RG3 in the bow l game the year before, won the first 6 games) and we still were about 4-5000 short of a sellout. It takes sustained success for a couple years to bring the fans back, especially Illinois ones.

I am not sure that most of our fanbase would be content with perennial bowl game qualification. Although I can only speak for the handful of big donors that I am friends with, they aren't content with a consistent bowl team. Most of them want National Title competition. If we have it in Basketball, but not football, I think it does alleviate the pressure.
I don't think the fan base would be happy with 6-6 every year. However, at least get back to were it was for a while in 1980-2010 where the program made a number of bowl games and had some fairly magical seasons (1983, 1989, 2001, 2007) and I think that would be acceptable. Always shoot higher, of course. But nobody thinks Illinois could transform into OSU or Alabama.

They are going to have to step up their donations if they want to get to that level. We are too far behind in the facilities race.

Not likely to get better than the 80's. We were 2nd best program in Big 10 that decade. That was a fun time.

So true. Our facilities are so weak compared to elite programs. And our stadium atmosphere is even weaker compared to the elite programs. Until these things change...

If it is an injury, maybe they are holding him out to preserve him for the season. It sucks he won't get snaps...but he can still study the playbook and go to practice.

Character? I do know this staff is all about building the man first, which is good. So I could see them punishing a player for a character mistake. However, I watched his announcement at that grade school. Yes it is a very small scope, but I would be shocked if it was anything to do with character.

Grades? Do you have to be eligible to play in the spring game, since it is still a practice? Dude graduated early. Most kids that do that, know they have to get their school work taken care of already.

My money is on injury

I heard it's academics. Some kind of technicality moving from a quarter to a semester system, and he would have had the same problem if he chose FSU or anywhere else on semesters.

Wouldn't Unije and PC Daniel have the same issues, if this was true?

Kind of quiet here. So guys, what color combos do you like best for this fall? Any uniform changes coming?

I've always been a fan of the blue jersey/orange pants/orange helmet combo that apparently everyone else hates.

Home I like the (helmet jersey pants) orange blue orange Combo best. Next orange blue white

Away: Orange white orange

They're all good. Just hope they stay away from the blue pants.

I disagree with most of you all about the blue pants. Some of my favorite looks:

-Galloping ghost uniforms (all grey) is the best look they do all year
-Blue helmet, white uniform, blue pants is really clean; I think the blue looks better than the orange
-Orange helmet, white uniform, orange pants is still good
-All white looks good on the road, can also do this with blue helmet, white uniform, white pants
-Classic O/B/O is fine too

I like most combos except all blue or all orange. I especially like the burnt orange helmets. I like all whites on the road. Does anyone remember us wearing all whites at Nebraska with white helmets with silver I’s?
