Don't see him displacing Trent and we really need his shooting plus the assumed promise we gave him of starting to secure his commitment.

Well.......that would sure be something. We'd have to be ranked top 15 pre-season you would think? If Garza stays (like most Iowa fans seem to be expecting) what a war the B10 will be.
I don't see him displacing Trent. I see Trent as a combo guard anyway. Basically by midseason (assuming AYO is in NBA) I see starting 5 as TrentG, MillerG Curbelo at point Griffin wing and Kofi C. Plenty of min. for DMW and Giorgi, with starts for them at points depending on gameplan and opponent

I know the parents of one of the hawkeye players and he has said there is no plans for Garza going pro this year. He says he will definitely be back.(FYI---I hate the hawkeyes with all of my being).

I would think Ayo's near scare with his leg might prompt him to take his chances at the next level. His mid to near range is very good. Needs to work on long range and ball handling could be tighter.

And no one would blame him for that. The dude has played himself back into 1st round conversation against the toughest conference this year. The clutch gene is not something that is learned.

This is a weaker than normal draft class being reported, would not be surprised to see this change, or even Ayo going higher than projected as of now. The experts will weigh in and my guess is both may be told a higher check is available this year vs next potentially.

True, but each player has to weigh the value of a higher check now versus more staying power if they wait a year, and therefore greater returns over time. I am not saying staying a year is necessarily beneficial to either or both of them, but it's more than just "which year can I get the biggest check."

I believe it was Ryan Baker recently on Saturday Sports Talk telling Steve/Loren that one of the two two transfers sitting out this season is an absolute lock to start next year. He's been playing "lights out" in practices and is a dead-eye from long range. He refused to divulge which of the two it was.

Great, the more talent the better.

Believe from info here that it is Grandison. If he is a starter, probably at the four. With Alan or DaMonte at the three, we still have good rebounding but still problem defending against large four. Seems much more practical to me with Kofi at the five, but Giorgi needs some size to help him when Kofi is out. Maybe Verdonk playing with Giorgi as a duo. Believe next years team will be a much different personality. May have excellent shooting with Alan, Miller, Trent, Hutch, Grandison and improved DaMonte and Giorgi but defense will still determine playing time.

That would give us a pre-season top 5 ranking. Book it.
I think this is the thing? Ayo is getting much more recognized nationally (not just on BT network) as this season has progressed. I have not seen a draft board that has him in the first round. Before I get killed, I have not looked hard. So let’s just play what if?

Lets just say his options are go in the second round or try FA to make it to the NBA. Let’s call this the Kendrick Nunn route to real star status in the NBA. With his injury scare this year, not a person in the world could blame him.

On the other hand come back with what would be around him? Crystal ball, preseason all American, team in the top 5 in the country, as a player “Winston” like status preseason and in the BIG. Maybe play in a FF, National Champ (I can only dream). So does that type of Junior year lead to a lottery pick with the tremulous amount of additional NATIONAL exposure for him (Dickey V slobbering lol) make it possible? I think he truly loves Illinois, so I hope only the best for him and assume he is gone, but I really don’t think it is as 100% as we all assume?

One caveat, he could easily play himself into the middle or even upper part of the first round simply over the next 3 weeks right?
