Villanova in 2015 lost in round 2 as the #1 seed and in 2016 they won it all. Not sure if this will be the case with us but is it a possibility?
And UVA lost a 1-16 game the year before winning the NC the next year. Not inconceivable that it will fuel a helluva lot of grit over the summer.
I posted in the Thank You thread that we can use these two programs as examples of getting back up after falling down. Those two programs had some massive disappointments in the tournament but didn't let it get in their way to keep going and eventually win the ultimate prize. Those programs didn't give up after disappointments neither should we.

...like is that a 9 foot rim?
With those hops he can get his shot whenever and where ever he wants. Hutch shot a great % from 3 and from the line before he became an Illini. I understood the reason he wasn't recruited by D1 was his back. If that is fixed look out.

Regardless of what the roster looks like, I hope we can play ourselves into like a fun 3/4/5 seed. One of those kinda darkhorse, fun final 4 picks. I will go into the season expecting a Sweet Sixteen.

I have faith in Underwood, Antigua, Chin and Gentry to find a decent center, if Kofi leaves. That is all we need with Melendez and Goode coming aboard. We still have the best PG in the Big Ten and Mr. Basketball (Miller) with a year of experience. When you think about it , Belo and Miller were the only players that played respectfully vs. Loyola.
Disagree. Kofi held his own or we would have lost by 30.

I'm wondering if having the B10 tournament later than the other conferences is the reason for our poor performances in the NCAA tournament. Playing all the games back to back and then barely having any rest before the National tournament. Then having to play those games right after didn't allow our teams any rest compared to other conferences that had a week rest up prior. Just wondering if that could be possible.
I was thinking about the end of the regular season, with most teams playing 4 games in 8 days. Most conferences did not get 20 games in, they just didn't make the games up like the B1G.

I know there is a lot of Hutch love on here, where does most of the love come from? Was he reported to be doing good in practice or does the love come from his time before Illinois?

Between his 40+ vert, Brad saying last off-season that he was probably the best athlete on the team, and this...
"Hutcherson led the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) in scoring last season with 20 points per game. He shot 44.4 percent from the field — including 39.2 percent from long range — and an impressive 88.5 percent at the free throw line. In two seasons at Wesleyan, he scored 847 points in 54 games, and was a 41 percent three-point shooter for the Cardinals."
...
There's alot to be excited about if his back is ok.

Some coach speak about him being our best athlete got everyone exited.
But it is a wait and see thing

I agree, although some of his deficiencies were on full display. They took advantage of the things he doesn't do well. (Defend the high post pick and roll/pass out of the triple team)
He absolutely has some deficiencies, but 20 and 9 is a pretty good line considering the poster I responded to insinuated He didn't show up. Also, I am not sure if he is that bad at guarding the pick and roll or the fact that we have no weak side help.

I’m sorry if this has been known already, but does Hutcherson still have 2 years of eligibility left? Did last season qualify for a medical redshirt?

I’m with you man. There’s been practice reports but the kid hasn’t played a game in two years. The posters on here who think we can rely on him next year befuddle me

After that, he practiced with Illinois and was called the best athlete and shooter on the team. Continued to play well even with a big jump in competition level. Athleticism translates. If healthy, he will be a key player next season.
