Trying to understand the draw to Alabama. They have a lot of rangy athletes and shoot a ton of 3’s so I guess their style mirrors the nba more than we do, but not many of their guys are appearing on draft boards and the ones I am seeing are all seniors.

But we play fast too. Didn’t shoot as many 3’s but that may change, and we just had a SG make first team AA and likely getting taken in the first round. And the “Ayo” spot on our team is currently open.

I know there’s a ton of stuff going on in the background that I will never know and most likely don’t want to know, but at least on paper I still think we are a very attractive spot for a SG.

Hutcherson looks great...but still need to fill that CG spot. Enough minutes for a rotation of Belo, Miller, Hutch and CG recruit. Hopefully his back can remain healthy.

If we're expecting Belo to play 30+ mins next year, his defense needs to a tick or two upward, similarly his fouling (or at least silly fouls) needs to trend the opposite way.

In terms of the next couple years, especially next years team, an impact big is still solidly number 1 on my list. The Hutch talk is great, and if he can take half of Ayo's minutes and be productive with them, I'll be absolutely ecstatic. Fact is, the talk around Giorgi potentially leaving, Kofi seemingly leaning into the draft (not to mention the complications of many transfers most likely wanting to wait out his decision), and Trent and Ayo gone as ball handlers makes me very concerned about how we can keep up next year.

TyTy would immediately ease a huge concern for me. What's the list of ball handlers on this team? Belo and maybe Miller? Just dont know if Curbelo is ready for that kind of load. I love the direction the team is going getting bigger and hounding 3 pt shooters, but living through the Groce era of PGs still gives me night terrors.

I have faith the staff can fill the 5 with competent players, but I'm very far from wanting to see Hamlin or Lieb get any sort of real playing time.

Respectfully disagree—I think Curbelo is ready to handle all that and more. He’s that special, like 15 pts 8 assists and 7 boards with 2 spg special as a sophomore.

Maybe I worded that too strongly against Curbelo. If I had my choice, he'd be out there for 35 minutes a game, every game. I do agree he's our PG, full stop.

The fact he averaged 2.7 fouls in 21.5 mins per game, means that if we expect him to up his minute total by 10, he's averaging 4 fouls a game. That's a scary amount regardless of his talent/skill. In fact, 2.7 fouls per game is a total higher than Fraizer, Ayo, or even Kofi every has achieved in a single season (though I dont take a ton of stock from that, just something I found interesting).

If he can maintain 2.7 fouls, but up his PT to averaging over 30, I'll be much relieved. Fact is, he will be in early foul trouble in at least some of our games, who plays in his stead? I'd still like another PG who could play 15 minutes a game. I dont think that's knocking what Curbelo is, I think it's insuring we wont have to play extended minutes without a quality PG.

A lot of those are silly reach ins and are correctable.

For defense I really hope he adds some strength this off season. He was abused by more physical point guards this year, CJ Walker in particular.

In true B10 fashion suddenly he’ll be called for less fouls despite playing similar defense because he’s gone through the freshman hazing that is B10 officiating. Note: offer does not apply to Giorgi, because there’s always one guy on the team that is the “quick whistle” guy according to the zebras.
