Is DaMonte quick enough to play solid D against an NBA quality guard? If so, he should have good value as a role player in the NBA. The question is then can he go from a bench role player to a rotation player.

What would really up his value in my opinion is:
- Tempering the enforcer attitude. He gets way to many stupid technicals that can cost the team momentum and/or the game.
- Demonstrating that he can be a medium-high volume scorer from 3. He has the form and shot. Now he just needs the rest of his confidence to take more of the open / semi-open shots.

If DaMonte came back and took 3-4 times the number of shots/game @ 40%+ accuracy, I think he could get drafted. (Contingent on being able to guard an NBA quality guard.)

Opinions?
Never going to happen ever- no NBA for him.

I would think both Trent and DMW would both come back if Kofi is back as they would be pretty darn good? Well I guess I can dream of it.

Obviously to most, D. Williams is not going to the NBA. Why not come back? We could use him and he could have a great season if the minutes are available.

Curbelo plus D&D- Defense and Dunk, and D&3- Defense and 3P

I have full confidence that with Curbelo we are aimed to be well above avg next year...if not absolutely great

If we have pieces that can play D and do the following, we will be fine:
- convert 3p shots at above 35%
- convert close to basket shots at 57%+

Returnees and pickups will round it out.. Hawkins, Grandison, Hutch, Payne, Goode, Podz, Melendez and possibly Kofi, Miller, Damonte are all significant.

Bottom line, Andre Curbello is a once in a generation talent who may eclipse DW in future success IMO... just dont realize how much talent he delivers.

After looking at multiple mock drafts and not seeing Kofi, one would have to think he will be back. Garza is a late 2nd rounder in most drafts, and he has an inside, outside game. Kofi should work all off-season on developing at least get a 15’ - 20’ consistent jump shot, and improve his passing out of the post. If he can add these skills helps stock should rise significantly.

A D3 player, that's never played a minute of D1 basketball, is better than anyone on the 2018 roster? Really?
Hutcherson had D1 talent but was relegated to D3 because of health issues (back). So yes he probably is better than everyone but Trent and Black on that team. Much more athletic and he has better stats shooting from the field and the line.

I totally agree, but can what’s left of the team see this before all the parts are gone? It is really hard to follow college basketball when the players are sort of like in a “pick up game”. Don’t like your team switch after the next game?

My worst fear is that AC continues to get the ticky tack fouls as he did this year....we need him on the court directing and leading this team, not shrugging his shoulders on the bench

Kinda feels like we are starting over next year. Hopefully we can get some good transfers and be competitive.

AC is special and like no one I’ve seen. He’s also 6’1” and 175# vs Deron who was 6’3” and 210#. He may have a better college career but projecting him as a more successful career than DW is out there. NBA all-star, 12 years in the league averaging 16 pts.

Olympic Gold medalist also.

I love DWIL, but he peaked early in NBA. He was great for 7 years and avg or less after that. He will hand over the torch at some point as most decorated Illini NBA star....may not be Andre to take that torch....., but OTH, it could be.

Hutcherson also grew multiple inches IIRC, going from 6’2” - 6’6” would make many guys go from D3 to D1

Deron was a pretty squishy soft 195# as a freshman. Curbelo is already solid as a Fletch rock, and can absolutely put 15-20lbs on in three years.
6'1" ~185-190 with that muscle is an NBA ready PG body.

If..and when..he does. Look. Out.

Who is this?

He was determined to succeed at basketball, but he was only 6’1″ and 150 pounds as a high school senior. Although he led his high school to the state regional playoffs and was named to the all-conference team, no colleges recruited him or offered him a basketball scholarship. As a favor to his high school coach, he was offered a scholarship as a student manager of the basketball team at a low major program.

Shooting stats in D3 can’t be compared to D1. Aaron Jordan shot 46% from 3 during that season. 84% from the line.
