At least our expectations will be in check. Probably 3 to 4 wins is the likely outcome. Very hard to see a conceivable route to bowl eligibility.

But with all things win related, always take the under. It generally pays out.

I don't see us beating many teams out for difference makers in the portal. Unfortunately I think we will be dependent on developing our young guys and hopefully somehow recruiting at a higher level.

When you have to play Oregon, PSU, and Mich in the same year, your strength of schedule is hard enough, no need to schedule anything but directional schools in the non-conf. Duke and Mizzou need to go, and KU is what it is. It is now 4 years since 2008 where Illinois finished with 5 wins and had a loss to a P5 school that was played either away or neutral site in the non-conf.

There’s only two games that we should lose - at PedU and at Oregon. The rest depends on how things come together. Most of the offense returns and Luke is set to have a big year. Our DBs will be a year older and more experience. Replacing the Law Firm is the biggest concern. I’ve been watching for 40 years. It will go one of two ways - about .500 and nip and tick on a bowl game, or things gel and we have a special season. I think I’ll predict the later. See you at old Memorial next fall.

When you say hit the portal. What are you thinking?

People like to say that Lovie left the cupboard bare but his 2019 class was the best recruiting class we had since Zook. According to 247 there were 7 4-stars in the 2019 class. Bielema has recruited 4 total. Alot of Lovie guys have been the best on the team at their positions and we're losing most if not all of them this off-season.

Harder schedule, and lower talent base going into next year will need a portal bonanza to turn this team around.
