Looking ahead to 2024

We might go back to doing the 1–1/2 mile walk from North Campus, an enjoyable stroll with many potential routes and stops along the way.
I'm an out-of-towner AND non-alum fan, so my geography of C-U is pretty much getting from Campustown to Downtown to the stadium/arena area in a triangle. :ROFLMAO: With that said, we came down for the PSU game this year and stayed at an airbnb about .9 miles west of Grange Grove and walked down Kirby on gameday. That was a really cool area, and the tailgate scene for the lots just west of Grange Grove looked awesome! Who gets to tailgate there?? Haha.

i got moved from lot 32 to the research park for 2023. said i needed to bump my ifund level up.
I've had lot 32 the last few years at Captains Club donation level.
I upped my IFund to All-American before last year's parking request email came out. I was worried that the additional season ticket sales might result in pushing me out of lot 32.
It must have worked, I had lot 32 this last season.
Of course, parking is ultimately about cumulative priority points. I've had 7 season seats for about a dozen or so years now and all of my IFund donations were at the Captains Club level until this year.
I talked with my ticket rep the other day and discussed my concerns that the new minimum donations might crowd me out of lot 32. I'm thinking that the $1,500 minimum for lot 31 may push some smaller donors from 31 into 32.
Of course the suggestion was to up my donation to hopefully keep from getting bumped to research park.
I'll probably go up a just a few dollars more a month and see what happens for 2024.
If my additional dollars don't keep me in 32, then I'll drop down to the minimum to get any parking. I may also abandon the IFUND altogether, since I only make 2 or 3 games a year. I'd just pay per game to park.
I love lot 32. I'd really hate to go backwards.

Better yet, get another win on the schedule and make it that much easier to secure a bowl game.
If we are backing out, that has to be the reason with the new B1G schedule starting. I don't really see it though. Why would we back out on a home "revenge" game where we would be returning more talent than KU. If we are scared of KU we aren't going to win a single B1G game.

well, my irritations are that they advertise reduce ticket prices then get you on the back end and there often seems to be open parking at the west end of 32.

KU is going to be even better than they were this year, so not exactly a bad thing to back away from an OOC loss at home.

KU will not be better next year. They lead the country (or close to leading the country) in returning production going into 2023, they won't have that big benefit for 2024. They just lost their OC. Kansas had an extra day of rest going into this year's game compared to Illinois. Next year? Illinois was scheduled to have a bye before Kansas. This game would have been in Champaign instead of Lawrence. Lots of advantages going into the 2024 game compared to this season.

I'm fine if they find an opponent that increases Illinois' win expectancy and bowl chances, but it stinks that Illinois is going to give Kansas the home game and a potential buyout (if this news is true).

IDK why people on this board keep underestimating the Jayhawks. They're well coached, have great talent on the roster and are recruiting just as well or better than the Illini, and all of that is showing in their recent success. They'll be heading into the game in Champaign next year as clear favorites.

Insiders.... I've seen a couple rumors of Scott Frost and Iowa having some interest in him being the next OC... Any traction to this or just smoke?

Yes, saying a team going 8-4 in 2023 is more likely to regress than further elevate makes me a hater. I didn't make a prediction on the game (I would agree that Kansas will be favored) because your statement was simply about Kansas being better. I also didn't refute your points about their coach (I have about a thousand posts on here from 2020 where I championed Leipold as the best candidate for Illinois), their talent, or recruiting.

They're going to be losing a ton of seniors and difference makers. Playing underclassmen and/or unproven players is going to lead to some regressed play. Some of those players could be stars in a year or two but they're going to make mistakes along the way. There's a reason why Connelly touts the importance of returning production when calculating how team's will perform.

I'm not saying they won't be good, what I'm saying is if we are afraid to play UK at home when they have a decent amount of change hitting them we are in bad shape as a program.
