Please let’s not do the ubiquitous “BU exposed today” comments. It implies that he is not a good coach, which is ridiculous. He and the players had a bad day against a team that executed everything exactly right...it happens.

I am just as gutted as anyone, but I refuse to fall prey to the “we are not good, and neither is our coaching.” UVA = first #1 to be beaten by a #16...the next year?

I’m not suggesting we’ll replicate that, but Bennet sure looked outcoached in the former one. Stay the course, our program is back.

Outcoached and outplayed today - one team looked hungry, the other looked like prey.

1. Having Ayo run the pick and roll time and time again late in the game was just insanity. Didn't hit wide open players in the corners, finally at times hit Kofi.

2. Kofi- geesh - when their game plan it to triple team you - get the ball out to an open shooter and they'll back off

3. Sagging off their big when he has the ball at the FT line works against a 16 seed - it does not work against a smart, high BB IQ 5 player.

4. Why we didn't try to speed them up and take them out of their game is beyond me.

I think he proved most of the season he is a good coach. You don't become a 1 seed and win the B1G by being a bad one. We had a bad game. It happens. Moser is a very good coach and we underestimated a very good team. A recipe for losing when you go in overconfident like I think we did today. Also, very possible B1G was a tad overrated this year.

Ayo shouldn't have been in. Send the kid a message that he needs to play defense and can't turn it over at that clip.

I'm the biggest die hard but God this was a disappointing effort.

It's hard to stomach that this team, that gave us so many amazing moments, went out with such a whimper at the end. We were never competitive in this game. That's the biggest disappointment to me. If you'd never seen Illinois play this season and saw them today, you'd be rightly confused about the hype.

That being said, there were some great times this season and when this team was on they were a joy to watch.

I don't where to begin.

No urgency on either end of the floor.
Too many turnovers.
No adjustment on either end of the floor.
Just completely outplayed.
I thought this was our year. I thought we had it all.
Very disappointing and bitter end to this season.
Yup. Our coaching today was horrendous. Zero urgency. Zero push. No capitalizing on their defensive gambling sending traps 30 feet from basket. Awful. Coaches awful. Ayo awful. Unbelievable.

Loyoala literally ran the same simple offensive set every time down the court. Why didn't we even try a different defense? Seems like changing up something would be better than watching them do the exact same thing every time.

Either way, it was a great season. Ended in disappointment but a great season anyway.

Karma for all the unfounded Krutwig transfer talk. Completely underprepared. Had no idea how to handle their defensive scheme against the ball screen. Didn’t once give them a different look on defense. We looked slow - like someone inexplicably decided to have the team lift weights the day before a noon game. I am absolutely sick right now.

Several thoughts.

1. Loyola played an absolutely excellent game on offense and defense.
2. There was just not enough adjustment on either end to right the ship
3. Illinois shouldn't have played Loyola at least until the next round.
4. Having no S16 appearance (minimum) for this team is just so effing devastating

Thank you seniors and Ayo for an unbelievable season.

H/T to Ramblers. You earned it.

The one silver lining? The freakin freshmen (!!!) were the only guys out there playing like it might be their last. Miller and Belo played their butts off. I am very excited to see what they bring next year, particularly AM after his effort today. Those guys looked like gamers that, at the very least, weren't going down without a fight.

Hats off to them. Controlled the entire game. We didn’t adjust on either end of the court. Disappointed in coaching today. Ayo off his game. Helluva a year.

The constant high ball screens killed me. Like a replay of UT last night.

Loyola was TREMENDOUS and they deserve credit for being tremendous. But the committee placing the 17th ranked team in the country and 9th best KenPom team as an 8 seed is a crime.
Right. And I'd much rather see a defender sag down into the lane early when we know that's where it's going. They were hitting shots but better to make them hit those than wide open cuts.
