LSU's Adam Miller out for season (ACL)

Really wish this thread would avoid talking about his play for Illinois. Best wishes. Hope he drops twenty on Orlando every time he faces him.

Wade says that a Miller sacrificed his offense to help Illinois win last year. Kind of a strange take.

He played with a 1st team AA, a 2nd team AA, a dynamic Fr pg, and 2 Srs including the nations leading 3 pt shooter.

The team simply didn't need his offense. That said, he played the 4th most mpg and took the 4th most shots and 2nd most 3s. He had the worst FG% of any primary player, and 2nd worst 3 pt%.

So not sure there was a sacrifice there, just poor shooting. Not shocking for a Fr. Many have shot poorly their first year and gone on to be dominant as upperclassmen, but they've got to be patient and work at it.

Sorry to hear this. I don't him any harm. I hope he is able to recover 100%

Very sorry to see this. Best of luck to Miller on a full recovery.

Go Illini

Terrible news. I hope Adam recovers and has a great career!

Adam Miller was part of team that helped bring Illinois Basketball back into the National Spotlight. The role that he played may not have been what he expected, but by all accounts, he was a good teammate. I am grateful for his contributions as part of a team that helped take my mind off a year full of frustrations!

I as well as most on this board have no idea what promises were made to him and his people by the staff (most of which turned over). I can't blame a kid for making a decision that he and his people feel better suits him. Most of us do the same in our lives!

I hope that Adam has a quick recovery and is able to still attain his ultimate goal!

Hoping for a full recovery. Fortunately, with today's surgical procedures, he should be able to make it all the way back. It is a lot of work ahead of him.

Is that true? I seem to recall that being said about DRose, but he didn't have the same athleticism afterwards.

Whatever the case, wish him well with his recovery. He contributed to Illinois, and his commitment was a big boost for the program. We all wish he fit better and stayed, but IMO there's no call for sour grapes.

Another example much closer to home is Adam's "Big Brother", DMFW who was averaging over 25 points a game as a Senior in High School in Peoria before tearing his ACL on December 2, 2016. DMFW plays an incredible role as an ILLINI "glue guy" and will once again be an extremely important player on our way to a potential National Championship this year, but he is a very different player on offense since that injury. I suspect that Adam will lean heavily on his "Big Brother" as to his post surgical recovery from his torn ACL, but its too bad that he won't be able to do it with them both in Champaign-Urbana. Still wish he hadn't transferred and hope he has a complete recovery. Things can change so quickly for these young men.

It's a significant injury. There is no two ways about it. There are a lot of variables that come into play. Kevin Durant tore his a couple years ago and appears to be the same player. Brianna Stewart tore hers and came back to be WNBA MVP the following season. Those are best case scenarios, as there are a lot of players whose careers appear to have been impacted significantly, even though most made it back to the court. Prior to the 1990's, it was often game over.

The mental aspect is sometimes mentioned with DMW. Pretty natural reaction to lose some confidence after an injury like that.

I agree - I mean, BU continued to start him all season and gave him lots of chance to shine

He’s a talented player and it’s awful that it happened- wish him a full recovery, but saying he was “held back” somehow last year would be a gross inaccuracy

The injury could've happened anytime, anywhere. Great luck and great health, Adam.

Durant tore his Achilles (ankle area). Miller tore his acl (knee area).

Achilles tears are generally considered the worst. ACLs are bad but “better” than Achilles.

Always Illini
Central Illinois
I'm alway sorry to see any young athlete set back a season by injuries. It always comes out of nowhere for them and is a terrible blow to their plans. I hope AM has an excellent recovery and gets to continue toward his goals. I would always rather see a young athlete succeed or fail on their own effort and hard work. It is how the system should work. That said, if we meet a team with a transfer out athlete I am all in for the Illini to send them packing for that game. They can get their success in another game.
