Malcolm Hill: All-Big Ten Second Team

Not surprised at all on Mason. Most agree that point guard play is the most important factor at the college level (see the last several years of Illinois basketball) and Mason was the PG on the most improved team in the country record wise. Not the B1G, the country. Yes they have some nice pieces around him but he's been lights out especially in the conference.

Beat writers had Minnesota as pre-season #11 and they finished #4 in B1G, so yes a surprisingly nice effort by Pitino.

Thats a shame. I really thought Malcolm was a 1st team guy, being that he was our best guy and got the toughest assignment from every team we played.

No shame in making second team All-BIG. Someone as efficient as Hill would probably do better with awards if he was on a better team. I think you actually become a better player when you're forced into being 'the man', but I don't think it helps with awards unless you're elite/NBA level and can handle that role.

Anyway, congrats on a fine career!
