I’m gonna go silver lining. By March this will be “that game they lost without Kofi”. If Curbelo throws in a basket there at the end - he has a lot less soul searching to do than he does now. So much humble pie served tonight. Eat it up boys. It’s good for you.
Someone with some common sense. Goodness we got people already declaring the season is over after tonight.

I cannot blame Curbelo. Obviously, he is doing what he is coached to do. When he is on the court with the ball in his hands at the end after missing 14 mostly bad shots and dribbling wildly into 7 turnovers, there is no other explanation. That was the game plan.

It's better to have one of these games now then later in the season. But AC cost us this game pure and simple. Too much dribbling, half-!!! passing, and sloppy hero ball. But I blame BU for not taking him out and reminding him of them. And even more for not calling that time out. They needed to have a set play after watching the Cubelo show for the last 9 possesions. We didn't deserve to win that game, but even worse neither did Marquette. They were terrible.

Wow. OK, well. Illinois has always had a bad game to start the season. Let's not think about rankings and awards, dust ourselves off, and go out and knock out Cincinnati.

This was the ugliest loss we’ve had in a while, no way should we have lost that game if we just played a halfway decent game.

Hopefully BU has a method to his madness letting AC keep playing hero ball. If not, we’re a fringe top 25 team at best.

But as we all know, the Illini always lay eggs early in the year, regardless of who coaches the guys. Super frustrating, but let’s beat Cincy and go from there.

LOL it's the same !!!! every year with you people. I heard this same nonsense after we lost to Mizzou, Rutgers, etc early last season. We lost by 1 point without our best player on the road. Calm the eff down.
That's because Underwood coughs up absurd losses early in the season every year (and a just a few yrs ago it was all season)

I’m not going to make some sweeping negative generalization based on one road loss without our All American, but I think it’s pretty obvious we are in trouble without Kofi, suspension or foul trouble.

I highly doubt we play that poorly again with our full team, and I’m hoping this can serve as a learning experience. Last year, we lost to a terrible Missouri team on the road and a subpar Maryland team at home and got a 1-seed, so this is hardly some season-ruining loss. However, if we don’t address some issues next Monday against Cincinnati, we are likely not the team we thought we were.

Yes, dumb plays down the line, but man we got screwed without lube

Poor coaching regardless of players. We have all these shooters and that’s our offense? Looked like Loyola, no adjustments when things weren’t going our way..
