Maybe Morgan's defense will get better next year. Needs to be consistent, but glad to see him aggressive on offense.
I'm happy for Mav because he has clearly earned everything he's gotten this year. Really a hard worker.
I just have a difficult time getting to giddy over offensive stats that certain players on this team are racking up while they are also giving up so many uncontested shots on the defensive end. At about the 12 min mark of the 2nd half, it turned into a layup drill for MD. Really frustrating to watch a team that consistently does not defend.
They definitely did not quit, just solely outplayed by a much better opponent. Also, that zone was a disaster and should probably be tossed completely.
When was that?
Poor JFG. People want him to get mad enough to get T'd, and then when he gets T'd, he loses the game because of it.Although not obvious, the point where Groce got the technical was pretty critical. I couldnt see on the play before for sure, but it looked like a goal tend on MD or at least a foul, which I think would have brought the game to single digits with a little bit of momentum on our side. Instead the Foul and then the technical pushed the lead out to about 16 and it was all downhill from there. They also just couldnt follow up with a stop anytime they got a nice shot to go on offense.

I've got a few theories:
1) Good teams have good coaches. Good coaches focus on shutting down Nunn and Hill and making everybody else beat us. That everybody else is not good enough to beat a good team.
2) We've collectively over rated Hill and Nunn because the talent around them is so poor. Similar to how the best guard on PSU would get all conference votes each year because they'd average nearly 20pts a game on terrible teams.
3) point shaving (joking just in case it wasn't obvious)
4) We aren't playing Austin enough (joking just in case it wasn't obvious)
5) They have to work so much harder for those relatively open looks against good teams that they don't have the lift they normally have on their shots.
John Groce is not maximizing the talent he currently has at his disposal. This team is developing losing habits and the Illinois basketball program is developing a culture of losing. The results that have been achieved by the Illinois basketball program this season are shocking.
Ha, that's funny. I will have to listen to it. Was it on radio or tv? I turned the channel once the game ended. Not surprised he would say that, the problems are fairly obvious.
Post game interview with Barnhart and Hester on the radio.
No they aren't. Name one team in the Big Ten that could lose it's starting point guard, starting PF, starting C, 2nd string PF/C and still have a successful season.
Agreed and it's amazing some folks can't see/admit this. While I'm certainly not sold on Groce, you're not going to win many games with what we can put out there.
Maryland is just a completely superior team to us, regardless of who is coaching.

This team just doesn't understand that the letter "e" in the word Oskee means energy. OTOH, we were just a couple of plays in the 2nd half of being right back in that thing.
Nicely done, I guess most people have purged Beckmanisms from their memory already.
