Our 5's got man-handled tonight. Booth and Morez with a combined 3 boards and they could not defend in the paint. We need more out of Morez than we got tonight. He has had some good nights, but he did nothing tonight.

We wish. I believe it will be much more painful than that. But we'll just have to roll the dice and hope we can find another couple transfers we maybe get lucky with who can actually play at a high level.

Are these guys getting decent minutes? Can’t imagine how difficult it’s got to be to coach in this new era.

Also @Indy Illini Fan, what’s your read on the locker room? Last year we heard how tight that group was. Heard it a little this year, but definitely doesn’t seem to have that same feel, at least on the eye test.

In terms of togetherness … Team bond …

Outside of that Skyy, Epps, Mayer team … And maybe Brad’s first team …

It’s the least together group he’s had …

This what happens when a grown man is Coach and not kids. They stay and develop and fight. Why go to a zone and cut the lead and go man? Wtf is going on. You are not a NBA team. There are no best of 3, 5, and 7 game series. 1 and done. Your million dollar coaches are on the bench all game long and th kids are up and coaching game. Un acceptable as a program that pays these men 10 million approximately each year. This is not Bobby Knight at Texas Tech grooming Pat to take his seat.

Appreciate the insight. It sure feels like a different vibe this season. Not to say there’s locker room drama. Probably more of an indication of how special last year was if anything.

Would Ty have made a difference tonight? I love Ty, so asking an honest Q.
Yes energy, effort, and motor he at least brings that every night. He would've kept the Maryland bigs off the glass a lil bit more too IMO. Ben H brings zero absolutely 0 im over him even playing anymore period. Give his minutes to DGL, Morez, and Jake Davis

Yeah it just seems like a bunch of role players but no one stands out. Even the game is becoming too fast for KJ and he’s looking lost or confused out there.

I felt the refs took him out of the game early. 2 absolutely phantom calls on the kid and 1 he was pushed in the back and he was called for it. Hard for a freshman to get any kind of confidence in a game like this.
No they didn't, after halftime he had 2 fouls and barely played. Until 7 minutes to go and we had surrendered 60 points in the Paint!

That was absolutely pathetic. Ya'll we just gave up 53 points in ONE HALF to a mediocre, middle of the pack Maryland team...
Here's my pissed off takeaways:
1) Felt just like USC coming out of halftime. Felt "lucky" to be down 3, first few minutes were going to tell us everything, came out like a fart in the wind.
2) KJ & Kylan's stats look decent (minus the 12 TO's) but they were both AWFUL tonight. KJ is far too careless with the ball and honestly, I'm getting tired of Brad kissing his A$$ so much. He's played well in some games but what has he actually accomplished or proven yet? Kylan might be the most frustrating player on the team. Bone headed turnovers at the worst times. And the thing that kills me the most is how often he passes up really good wide open shots and in the same breath takes the dumbest ones instead (which essentially lead to 2 points for other team).
3) How on earth can you play on your home court and give an effort like that? 53 points... our tickets holders, fans, former players, and donors deserve more than that.
4) It's time Underwood calls this team out and lights their butts up. He himself has been soft this year and it's reflected in this teams play.
5) Who the hell is leading this team? No one seems to refuse to lose? Who on our team is ready to go to war? I'd kill for a Barnhizer type right now.
6) I can't stand Maryland, especially Reese, the dude doesn't stop talking the entire game, is insufferable, and the worst part is he flippin owns us. Makes me want to vomit.

Bingo … No drama … Just not a very together group …

Outside of Ty & DGL … None of these guys are really familiar with each other …

Tomi & KJ are close …

Honestly, not that surprising to hear. This team was bandaged together by high-quality talent in the portal, but it is hard to get a good team bond when it is an entirely new team.

Hopefully this team can get there a bit in the coming month. Winning definitely helps, but the last week and a half is a concern, to say the least. However, the talent is there, and that still has me hopeful.

If I had a current player tell me 1/2 way through the season he was going to transfer at the end of the season, I would kick him off the team. He would be hurting the team by finishing out the season unless he was already red-shirting like Ty Rogers. You don't allow players to black-mail you into playing them, period.

Morez and Ben had an opportunity tonight to step up and show they have toughened up on defense and there’s no fall off when Tomi sits.

They both proved they can’t do that. Awful performance. Yes the guard play was below average but they were in a position where they had to force things.
