To all those that bet on this game and took Michigan and the points.

Well we beat the spread. Harbaugh is obviously a great coach, but a real JERK.

You could argue most beckman teams had more talent than this team. And a Beckman team would have lost 78-0 in this one. We at least fought the whole time.

I thought Jeff Jr did pretty well considering the circumstances. He looks like he has a good arm and will serve us well when we get a better line and receivers.

Was really happy with how they played after the first quarter, especially the defense. Made a few errors that I didn't like, but they were actually flying around and making some plays more often than not. If we bring that kind of effort for the whole game the next few games, I think we can sneak out another couple wins.

JGJ I thought held his own for the most part, especially since he was likely going against a top 3 defense. IIRC we actually out-gained Wisconsin.

Didn't get to see much of second half after midway through the third.

Considering the score, what did harbaugh do to earn scorn on here? Doesn't seem like he ran up the score, given they only scored 10 in the second half.

First quarter--horrible. After that it was a solid effort against a team that may play in the NC game. Jeff Jr. looked much better than I expected him to, and with the benefit of more practice I think he's got potential.

I thought it was about as good an outcome as we could expect given the fact a freshman quarterback started his first game against the best defense in college football on their home field. Yep, moral victory. I still hate missing easy tackles that lead to big plays.

Since I knew this was not going to be pretty. I decided to make notes on the game. Here is some of the "better" moments.

When hardee comes in motion from the right side towards the OT and instead of blocking down on DE. He blocks our own OT.

When LB 33 gets to play downhill....he portrays a average LB. When LB 33 is asked to do ANYTHING else......he is a lost puppy.

When DE 91 and DE 6 is even somewhat schemed blocked. They look terrible. Michigan let them slant hard and they just road them down.....they didn't contain....no LB over the top to assist in contain and a very basic easy run play gets Michigan 5+ yards per play.

Even better when 91 and 6 would have contain responsibilities and would still go inside. Michigan OL was baiting them to go inside alllllll game.

CB 24...... clearly is our worst CB and opposing teams know that...... they abused him alllll game. They only went towards CB 1 only a few times and CB 1 had, overall, a good game.

CB 24 looked afraid the entire game. Huge cushion and when the WR would break his route into a post route. He would not adjust. Just continued to run straight back. Awful.

Pass coverage LB 33 and 2 are not very good. Awareness is lacking. LB 2 though does well turning and run with the reciever he was responsible for.

DT 55. Just gets it.

SS 21 and FS 17 Young but made plays. Neither one is afraid to come down and tackle. CB 24 whiffed on a total tally of 6 tackles. CB 1 are similar to SS and FS.

LB 33- why lead with head (even tho the tackle did start in QBs chest and road up to his helmet) New rules say that's targeting....adapt, overcome... and get your darn head to the side or better yet. Take your head right into QB shoulder!!!

LB 33- when he does read correctly...he takes a okay angle and get in/ makes the play....when he does, which is everything but a normal, standard run play.... He. Is. Lost.

Freshman LB 9 and RS FR LB 32 have to be better then LB 33.... I hope?

Not have WR 18 hurts....... not having WR 86 for the last 5 games.... makes it that much worse.

WR 11 can be a go to playmaker.....just needs some time of supporting cast around him to perform so the matchups are there.

JGJ- We clearly know why he is our 3rd string QB.... Reports in off-season said "he has a arm"....... didn't see that at all. Or least nothing above average. Balls were lofted into air. No zip.

RB 22- love the kid.

OT 57- woof....NFL caliber OT????? Didn't see that today.

OT 57 was worked over almost about as hard as CB 24 was today. Both power and speed rush he was terrible against.

OL 71- woof. All season when someone with even a hint of explosion is lined up head on over him. He gets BLOWN off the ball and THROWN into backfield.

OL 67 and OL 53 (besides a few plays and 53 holding penalty) they seem to be gelling the best out of our OL. If only we had all 5 on that level.

DL 95- will be good. DL 55 and 95 is our future on inside. Clearly. They just seem to both get it.

DL 14- it's a shame he's a senior. He does everything well. Nothing great. Need about 15 more kids like him that just bust their butt to do their job.

CB 23- green. Very green but looks like a kid who just needs the game to slow down more for him. He could be an actual player for us.

RB 5- he needs to focus way to many mental lapses. He has the talent. Just his focus is lacking. Not just the catching the snap but also on runs. Holes where there....he just missed them.

Love this analysis but wish you could put names to the numbers. Don't know that many numbers off the top of my head.

Harbaugh challenged a spot up 33 with 2 minutes left. It was a d bag move completely.

Fake punt up big in the fourth quarter was also not classy. Fortunately for the good guys, they muffed the snap.

I was watching the game and the ticker with the scores under the game. I looked at the national rating of the teams we have faced, dang we have played a tough schedule. Maybe our record reflects about as good as possible. Two top tens and two more top twenty fives. The Purdon't loss still hurts, should be a W.

I actually was impressed by JG Jr. for his poise and toughness in the pocket. He didn't panic and crumble to the ground against a nasty pass rush and actually stepped into throws while being hit. That fearlessness and toughness will not go unnoticed by the players and coaching staff. I hope he gets the start v. Minnesota.

I wasn't about to watch the game, but saw the .gif thread. How does JGJ look in the pocket? Good vision? Ability to set himself?

EDIT: wow, timely post above, lol

#24
I liked JGJ. I didn't think he looked rattled against a formidable defense, just overmatched. I look forward to seeing more of him and seeing how he progresses.

Anybody know what's up with megginson? Was he hurt or benched? I thought I heard tv crew comment on him, but also showed him on sideline. He had just helmet on as if ready to play though.

Thanks.
