I actually was impressed by JG Jr. for his poise and toughness in the pocket. He didn't panic and crumble to the ground against a nasty pass rush and actually stepped into throws while being hit. That fearlessness and toughness will not go unnoticed by the players and coaching staff. I hope he gets the start v. Minnesota.

+1

I want to see JG with another full week of practice go against a lesser defense in Minnesota.

When LB 33 gets to play downhill....he portrays a average LB. When LB 33 is asked to do ANYTHING else......he is a lost puppy.

Pass coverage LB 33 and 2 are not very good. Awareness is lacking. LB 2 though does well turning and run with the reciever he was responsible for.

LB 33- why lead with head (even tho the tackle did start in QBs chest and road up to his helmet) New rules say that's targeting....adapt, overcome... and get your darn head to the side or better yet. Take your head right into QB shoulder!!!

LB 33- when he does read correctly...he takes a okay angle and get in/ makes the play....when he does, which is everything but a normal, standard run play.... He. Is. Lost.

Freshman LB 9 and RS FR LB 32 have to be better then LB 33.... I hope?

I have no idea what the staff sees in Tre Watson that he continues to see significant minutes. He is lost out there!! Luckily he is suspended for the first half of the Minnesota game.

A lot of guys look lost as true Sophomores, especially in new systems.

J. Leman for instance was not highly regarded as sophomore. Gotta trust your new staff

Focus better be on handing Minny its 3rd loss this year.
Junior has an arm, poise to get it done. Keep him in there.
Didn't see much of Corbin for some reason.
Glad Foster decided to stay.

That game was over in five minutes but we kept fighting for all 60. Proud of our guys. There will be better days.

This

And we came within two points of them in the second half

And I was worried that Junior would never get untracked and I don't have to worry about that cuz he finally let one loose

Let Lovie get things going then let's play them again why not

I was watching the game and the ticker with the scores under the game. I looked at the national rating of the teams we have faced, dang we have played a tough schedule. Maybe our record reflects about as good as possible. Two top tens and two more top twenty fives. The Purdon't loss still hurts, should be a W.

This how I feel to

Would love to get to play Purdue again

I think Nebraska is way over rated but they deserve to be somewere in the top 25

I feel this way also. I have caught myself on a lot of bad or dumb plays saying "who was that" It usually ends up being Watson.

What Michigan has to worry about in the future. :

1. Ohio state of course. Good football recruiting area and national recruiter.

2. Alabama. Have to go thru Ohio state first but they will be waiting. Saban won't be round forever and when they hire a New one it will either be a good or bad or meh choice.

3. USC/UCLA whichever of these dogs gets there act together could be a power.

4. Wisky. This could be a flash in The pan but it looks like they are now having success with a third straight coach. Except for Russell Wilson for a year, they do it with qbs who should be sacking groceries and playing Mario go kart.

5. Ped State / ILLINI. Both sit on lots of state talent and both could become national recruiters. I'm banking on Lovie!

6. Some other SEC team if Florida ever gets it's crap together

Nobody else in the BIG. Notre Dame has a coach who is one road rage incident or interception from bypass surgery.. Michigan state could be a player but they are a bad bag of heroin right now and Michigan is not big enuf for both of them. Nebraska was big until they started testing for performance enhancers. Can't see them really coming Bach bc they will always be in Nebraska.

What you got???

Sure, what's another 30 years anyway?

Watch our two point conversion from the game. That is our future

from the motion to the slant that was a well devised play

we will soon be executing plays like that all. the. time.

on top of that you got Lovie and what could be one of the best staffs in the country

new renovations

this is not next year but down the road..........

GO ILLINI!!! :shield:

That's all great and I am enthused about our future.

But Michigan isn't ever going to worry about Illinois. It's not possible for them to do so.

I did not see much of the scUM game. Did we do better with penalties?

5 for 45 yards, so that's an improvement. The team looked way more disciplined than they have so far this year. Despite the outcome, and even with a 3rd string QB as a starter, I think we're trending up.

Me too.

Did anyone see the ESPN article about harbone being pissed about the last minute challenge? What a d-bag.

What no one discussed about that challenge was that when challenging the spot, you can only challenge whether the ball reached the line to gain, either the first down or the end zone as applicable.

That ball was clearly spotted over a yard back of where the receiver's forward progress was stopped. But because it did not reach the first down marker, the play could not be overturned. There is no possibility of turning a 4th and 3 into a 4th and 1 via replay.

Waiting for refs to start calling ANY of the blatant holds against Smoot.

Not like it would have made a difference, but Michigan converted 3rd and long passes twice with the tackle clearly holding Smoot (to the point where no part of him was between Smoot & QB).

Smoot has been good this year, but I'm thinking he should have a few more sacks and TFLs

Please clarify. Are you saying you cannot challenge the spot ever? Meaning (example) the 45 v 44 yard line? If you challenge the spot of the ball, isn't that automatically challenging the line to gain?

You can only challenge whether or not you got a first down or whether or not you got a touchdown. You cannot just challenge a random spot.

If you gain 8 yards on 1st and 10 but the officials mark it as a 2 yard gain and give you a 2nd and 8, you have no recourse. That's not a reviewable distinction.

Harbaugh thought he was challenging to give himself a 4th and inches. But the review was solely regarding whether the receiver reached the first down marker, so he "lost" the challenge and they placed the ball back where it was originally marked.

Thanks. Different from what I recall. NFL perhaps, where I thought they challenge the spot, not a first down per se?

thats certainly possible.

but IF Lovie gets to a point where he's locking down Illinois talent..........

Michigan has 6 players from IL on their roster right now

noter dame has at least 15.

ohio state has 4 more.

wiskonsin has 8.

Even if Lovie gets in on a greater percentage of those guys.........
