Yeah, I think it's a massive overreaction. I agree that maybe a cooling off period makes sense, but if you can't navigate a handshake line without punching somebody, the problem isn't with the handshake line.
That’s right.

What he was actually upset about is the fact that his team was getting blown out on their way to a lousy 14-11 record.

Based on recent history - Howard doesn't think it is a problem calling Timeout in blow outs in the last minute.

Like I said doing the post game interview didn't help Howard's position.

Maybe I missed it but when Michigan leading Indiana by 16 @Indiana earlier this year and Howard calls TO with :55 remaining - I don't recall any altercations

I may be alone here but, I think the time out is a bit of a red herring. Howard is looking for something to pin his anger on to deflect from the fact that his coaching and the play of the team have been lousy.
You don't say! Howard is Bobby Knight w/o the good coaching part.

Underwood might want to wear a football helmet in Sunday's game😳 Howard seems to have a pattern of unsportsmanlike behavior and lack of self control. Not a good roll model for resolving conflict. It doesn’t reflect well for Michigan, the Bigten or college basketball in general.

I think what a person does or does not consider threatening is pretty personal, especially in the heat of the moment. But if Howard felt threatened by what Gard was doing (especially given their very different physical statures) then that is still a major personal problem for Howar

One thing that hasn't been mentioned (although i'm not yet caught up on the thread).... Howard feeling "threatened" by Gard? Really? He's 6'10 and still in good shape. Gard.....no offense, but he ain't in any kind of shape. Howard wasn't "threatened" - that's a red herring.

Guys, seriously, there is a baby farting powder on the Recruiting page. Let’s all go hang out there for a while. A DAMN BABY IS FARTING POWDER OVER THERE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!
LOL.

I did see the baby farting powder and laughed. Then I came back here to read about the baby coach of scUM.

I dunno, maybe not. It’s at least an example of MD: acting like an adult, channeling his anger, and choosing to do something positive with it…whereas JH (the adult charged with mentoring him)chose to express his anger in a childish way…twice now and counting…

“Not shaking hands, that's typical of our country right now. Instead of solving the problem, let's make an excuse and let's see if we can just instead of, confronting and demanding that it changes, let's eliminate it so that we don't have those problems. Let's try to do that,” he scoffed. “That's perfect us right now, that's not perfect me. That's not happening here. So if some team doesn't want to shake hands, you're gonna see 15 of my guys walk down and shake air. We're going to shake air and I'm gonna to shake air and then we're gonna leave.”

I... I agree with Izzo.

Diabate threw several punches in the melee. I expect him to miss a few games.

I am guessing that Warren doesn't do anything to Howard. He may punish players but he has shown no interest in doing anything against Michigan's best interests. I just don't think he will do it now.

Having said that, if he allows this to stand without a severe punishment the University Presidents need to step in and remove him from the position. This is not a close call for Warren or the Presidents.

On this one you can here Gard say something like “if you’re gonna press”. Gard was probably trying to explain why he called that timeout.

“I’ll remember that …”

“Yeah well remember why I called the timeout too, because you were pressing”

Then Juwan started after like a 4 year old with the “don’t touch me, don’t touch me” stuff.
…and the band played on. 😄

I made the mistake of having ESBSPN on this morning and that northwestern wussycat dork Greenberg and that dumb slow talking meathead Kendrick Perkins making excuses for Juwan Howard. (their idiotic takes are at the start of the video) Perkins' was stupidly justifying Juwan's actions and even stated the teams shouldn't shake hands after a hard fought game because of " high emotions". SMDH God forbid coaches and players show good sportsmanship. Idiot.
I didn’t watch the clip you linked, but I did watch most of Get Up and really didn’t think for the most part that Greeny was making excuses for Howard. Perkins definitely was both on that show and Stephen Smith’s show. I will say that Smith came down fairly hard on Howard. He didn’t advocate for his firing, but said Howard should be suspended for the season, including BIG tourney and NCAA tourney if UM was to get in.

While ScUM was still applying a full court press.
And Gard has the right to call a timeout any time he wants during the game. He can call all of them back to back if he wants. How many times to coaches foul the other team with under a minute to go when they are down 15. Howard has been and will always be a child in a grown man's body. He has no business being a D1 head coach. Im sure he wont get fired though because ESPN puts the worst coaches in the NCAA at the top of their totem pole and defends them for some stupid reason.

Awesome...that is why Izzo has been so successful as a college coach. He doesn't treat the BIG and MSU like an AAU circuit.

Gard and Mccaffery don't seem to have the most people friendly traits. But can't excuse the fight, if I'm a coach I'm concerned about taking my team over for handshakes after beating him.
