In one of the videos it appears the assistant from Wisconsin was clearly antagonizing Howard after the initial handshake incident.
Saying something along the lines of “shut the eff up” toward Howard. Definitely warrants punishment to the asst. coach and probably something minor for Gard.

I don't have all the evidence about what was being said and done as the game wound down, etc., so I'm not gonna make any judgment about what should happen here. But looking back at history, remember what happened the last time a SCUM basketball coach was told to leave right before the NCAA tourney began? I do, and I don't want that nightmare happening ever again. 
With that said, I just don't know how you justify keeping him on as coach. He's lucky he's not spending the night in jail.

Honest question, what did Gard do? I’ve watched the video but I still don’t see a lot of fault there (unless he said something or did something in the melee.)

We DoNot want to see Coach Belein! I agree because coach beilein is one of the best tacticians on the planet! Doesn't mean I like him or dislike him. the man can coach the crap out of his players.woof, "89" all over again. Big differences they don't have a Bo Schembechler to come in and brutalize the basketball team, about their coach going to Arizona State!! Steve Fisher an assistant coach there is no coach Schembechler anymore those men are missing in this world. If he were still alive Harbaugh wouldn't be the coach at that school right now!
Remember… Alan Griffin got a 2 game suspension for stepping on a player. To me, this is at least twice as bad. He is the paid professional. He started a melee. At minimum I think 4-5 games would be appropriate and there is serious question over him keeping his job. Now, does our big ten commish have the guts? Or does he only drop the hammer on Illinois players?
Gard grabbed his arm as you would do if you wanted to explain something to some one. Howard grabbed Gard’s shirt dead center of his Chest. Have watched it a dozen times.

I think Howard is lucky here. He’s a former elite level athlete who I’m sure still has works out and appears to be in solid shape.
But, he’s also older now. He’s lucky some random strong giant off Wisconsin’s roster didn’t make a run at him and try to bring him to the ground and pummel him.
