Bit did he step on his foot? I'd like to see a replay.I believe no one has mentioned the 3rd foul. The MS player stepped on KJ's foot. How is that a foul?
We got hosed.

It was called on Antigua watch Brad tell him thatUsually aren’t going to win a road game when you shoot 5/24 on 3s.
Can’t risk a technical when it’s a 4 point game late. Stupid play by Underwood. He came out on the court and was restrained by Antigua. Should a ref call that on that situation? No. But if you are the HC, can’t risk it.
Basically nothing out of KJ. Can’t foul out on the play he did.
All that said to still be in the game on the road against a top 15 team is a positive. Great games outs of Riley, DGL, Morez. Really liked Morez this game. He is an excellent finisher down low and has really good hands.
Had a chance to steal it. Didn’t do it. On to the next game.
It's sort of irrelevant in the sense that, regardless of who got teed, it gave MSU 2 free points and possession and made our job harder. It was called on Antigua watch Brad tell him that
We can still get a good seed if we get on a streak. If this game turns out retrospectively to be the preview of a Will Riley end of season dominating breakout, then it takes away the negative feeling from one loss. I have a high degree of confidence that these Illini are resilient, learn from mistakes, and will be playing their best ball of the season come tourney time. We may or may not win the regular season B10 title, but I am convinced we are the most dangerous B10 team with the highest upside when the Big Dance rolls around. No one is going to want to see us in their bracket.
I was wondering if CBS has a policy that commentators absolutely do not question calls. They seemed to completely go with anything called, and even didn't seem to replay some of the most questionable of calls. With all that nonsense (best player fouled out in limited minutes and in hostile road environment), the Illini still only lost by 2 and had a chance to win in the end. Michigan State may still be unbeaten in conference, but it is clear to any sane individual that the Illini are the more talented team. Looking forward to smoking the Izzos' in Champain next month.
Let's hope we don't see this officiating crew again. It was one of the sorriest excuses of officiating in a CBS game in a long time.
Need to protect home court next week and beat MD and NW. This team is still in good position for a deep March run, though the regular season conference title is becoming very unlikely. Who knows, maybe KJ getting a ton of rest today will help in the long run![]()
I would have left him in. He's been pretty trustworthy in those situations. Unfortunately, there was nothing Underwood could do about the miscalls.Leaving KJ in with 3 fouls to play matador D and then pick up his 4th foul didn't seem very strategic.
IMHO, and regardless of this outcome, that rule should be changed. If your feet are inbounds and you can make a shot like that, it should count. I see no reason why it shouldn’t, as long as it doesn’t hit anything on the way to the hoop.Page 77
Art. 3. The ball shall be out of bounds when any part of the ball passes over the backboard from any direction.
Assistants have to watch what they are saying. I speak from experience that assistants really get zero tolerance toward comments about the officials. The head coach will normally get some leeway (and should), but assistants don't get that.It was called on Antigua watch Brad tell him that
Offense was stagnant without him. Do not fault rolling the diceNo win situation there. Not necessarily bad coaching.
This right here. The team missed 10 free throws and went 5-24 behind the 3 point line. Missing KJ for virtually the entire game and only lose by 2. Quite remarkable really, and I think will be very helpful come March that these games are still winnable.
Yes. Bang bang play but yes.Bit did he step on his foot? I'd like to see a replay.
AntiguaWho was it on?
I don’t think his foot was on the line. Next to the line. But not on it. Even announcers thought he was in. But that wasn’t the call. It’s a stupid rule but it’s a rule. His foot was definitely out of bounds. CBS showed the replay. Not sure if they called it though.
They were running great sets previously to that. I don't think it was necessary. Had Boswell taken the shot instead of trying to throw a hot pass two feet away, it may have turned out differently.Brad not calling a timeout on our possession with the chance to win with the clock expiring was a mistake. The big reason why is because KJ isn't on the floor. May have been better to call that timeout to get the guys reorganized.
