Our rebounding and several other things weren’t good enough to win this one, and the refs were characteristically bad. However, if Keaton even goes 2/15 from the field, we win in regulation. I am optimistic he learns and grows from this, and we’re better off for it in a month. We are very good, even without Keaton contributing more than he did tonight … but we aren’t elite.

Onward and upward.
Yes, I think this game will be somewhat like the Nebraska game was for us. A learning experience. The Keaton hype train was due for some uphill grade. Keaton didn't play off two feet at all tonight - think that might have helped to mix in.
We could afford to lose this one, but have to beat MI and the rest.
And yes, Fears is a punk and I about threw up having to listen to the broadcast praise him at the end of the game, but to the winner goes the spoils.

Can’t win ‘em all. Take care of business at home next week and get back to our winning ways.
Exactly, take care of business. We got hosed really bad. Fears is a disgrace! When he clearly trips our guy and the refs don't call it after replay then they let him get away with a flop shot when nobody touches him and they call of foul that's when our fantastic coach needs to send an appeal or a request for replay to the league for dirty play and terrible reffing. I'm not one to complain b/c we know it wasn't going to go our way. I can live with 22 terrible calls, but I can't live with dirty play then giving the dirty player the call on offense when nobody touched him. How many people paid attention to the post game interview with Izzo when he commented on Fears playing after his dirty stuff the past couple games and Izzo said (paraphrasing), it had nothing to do with this game. That's BS! He played Fears b/c he knew he had to have this game for his team. No ethics whatsoever. But going back to the post I'm replying to. Let this make us stronger. Boz was out. Keaton struggle shooting (but still played pretty well in my opinion bc he's still calm and knocked down big FTs, still had assists, kept crashing the glass, etc.). I remember watching the Flying Illini and I can't remember this bad of a hose job on our team. We have a legit Final Four contender and possibly a National Title team. Go Illini! ILL!

Don’t mean to keep coming back and being Mr. Optimistic, losing blows either way but man it feels a lot better gutting this one out in front of a brutal away crowd and knowing you’re the better team, vs last year when we lost games that we only could have won by the grace of god. I don’t think we’ll have games this year like the ones last year against Duke, Maryland, MSU, etc.

Lebron James What GIF by SB Nation

Dan, where is the dislike button? What an idiotic take.

I called for him to make a call just like this...only it involved Baldy. Even with "conclusive evidence". What a f'n joke

UConn lost, Duke lost, and we lost. That's the 3, 4 and 5 ranked teams. What a week this has been in CBB.
Gonzaga and MSU also lost road games this week. Houston has a difficult road game @BYU roght now. Possible that six of the top 10 lose a road game this week.

This is just an honest question so don’t pound me for it. Does Keaton seem to get his feet out of sorts driving to the hoop when he gets about 8-10 feet from the rim? I think it hurts his ability to finish. He got tangled one time with Cooper but most of the time it seems like he wants to jump too soon.

Set aside all the bullsh@t we knew we'd face tonight....

Mirkovic at the point was absolutely insane in the second half. I knew he could pass but my word. If we can trust that down the stretch when Bam get's back...we are almost impossible to guard without help from the refs.
They both got hammered with no calls so many times.
The old freshman not gonna get calls bs.

We have two of the most special freshman in our programs history.

It took 8-5 and a really tough night for Wagler to beat us.

Should have played zone all night. Especially when we got up 9. Even with the terrible calls, we had so many opportunities to win this game. Terrible time to have a really bad shooting night. It happens. Just don't make a habit of it lol.

Yeah, ranking next week going to be interesting. Lets us all pray that Ohio State can pull the upset tomorrow.
