Yes, I believe that it is a good time for you to get a clue. You seem like the type of person that would be angry at your pregnant wife for not delivering your child at 3 months instead of at full term. Let the bun finish in the oven... This is a rebuild. It isn't everyone else's fault that your expectations were outside the realm of reality.

We won't lose many games forcing 30 turnovers and outshooting teams by 10-15 shots. In the end it comes down to guys making plays and obviously they have guys who can do that better than we can.
He wouldn't have with this team. And that is the point. We need better talent and depth at more than one position. But this is the team that Underwood was given. And he has them overachieving in my book. We could have just as easily won over half of our conference games and looked exactly like we do today and nobody would be complaining about bad coaching.
I am glad Whitman is the athletic director and not many on this board. Need to let this play out longer than two and a half months. However, we do need some of our target recruits to start buying in.

Agreed. I think This team coached by Groce is probably at the same record or worse than we are. Certainly the losses wouldn’t have been so close.

Even running a watered down version, our offensive scheme is far superior to what we witnessed the previous 4 years. And even in losing, this team is far more fun and interesting to watch than the best games of the past era.

Jeez, are you for real. They are at an immediate disadvantage because of their lack of athleticism and lack of no front court precense. All BU is asking them to do is bust their tails and play some in your face defense. It's called establishing a culture

When he gets three recruiting classes under his belt. First one should not count, since he had no chance to recruit, except to keep the committed guys already signed up.
You might want to look away for 2-3 years. This is big boy rebuilding time . This isn’t the NBA where you can buy a insta-turn-around. It will take time... Lots of time. With a little luck, sooner.
Maybe you should look more closely at what Underwood took over.
1. Illini lost 4 of its top 5 scorers from 16-17 (3 to graduation and one to transfer)
2. Underwood has only 6 players who have played any meaningful (if you can even say that for some of these guys) minutes in college (Jordan, Black, Finke, Lucas, Nichols, Alstork).
3. Underwood took over a team with only 2 players 6'7" or taller.
4. Underwood has an entire team and a coaching staff (I think this is completely forgotten by some) that is learning a new system.
Not sure what some of you were expecting in year 1!

Exactly what defense do you think Coach Underwood should have them playing? From what coaching tree do you come from so we can understand you defensive philosophies in basketball? Just curious because not a single post of yours makes any sense to me

Serious question. Do you think that the ONLY reason we are at an "immediate disadvantage" is because of Coach Underwood's pressure defense???
I'm thinking that our "immediate disadvantage" starts with a roster that isn't built to win in the B1G. If we sit back tonight, with no pressure, and let Izzo do whatever he wants, we get crushed by about 30...
How long do YOU think is an appropriate time for a new coach to have to build a roster that fits his system? Weber had a roster to fit his motion and M2M defense (from Self), but how long did he get to build it on his own? (Answer: He never could). Coach Groce couldn't get a balanced roster in how many years??? Yet, you expect Coach Underwood to have an established B1G roster in less than a season???
It's a rebuild. Let things happen. If Coach Underwood can't get the right players in, things will take care of themselves and we will extend the rebuild....

Nebraska doesn't have the horses the MSU does either. They would have picked us apart and won by 30 if we had done that. We switched to that right before the half and they nailed a wide open 3 and we didn't have a player within 10 feet of the shooter
Easy, only Indiana or Iowa deserves that...we just got unlucky and hired not 1 but 2 unentertaining buffoons!
Alstork plays good defensively but he has no clue offensively. Actually if Damonte works on his shot this offseason (It already looks better than Alstork's, just wish it would go in more often). DaMonte in his sophomore season will be as good, if not better, defensively than Alstork.
