Michigan State: Mel Tucker fired

I think MSU will have a harder time hiring a good coach than many think. The administration handled things horribly including the AD. As Nick Saban has said who the AD is means a lot in where a good coach will work. If the don’t launch their AD he may have as hard a time as Mike Thomas did hiring good coaches.
I also believe MSU is in for tougher sledding than they may think. And while I agree with your reasons, my reason is because why would any potential coach accept a deal less than Tucker got, right? He may have been vastly overpaid, but that still demonstrated what MSU thinks the job is worth. Why would anyone take less?

If MSU thought they were going to save money here, my guess is they are 100% wrong. Also, their national embarrassment as a result of this episode will keep dragging on for months. Congratulations, Sparty!

I would be surprised if they didn’t had to pay Mel some of his contract. I just don’t know how much.

I'll be curious to see if they settle and for how much. It's rare to see this sort of thing battled out in court, but it can take a while for lawyers to figure out a settlement once they reach agreement on how strong the case is. There's way too much money on the table for it to go away quietly.

And this hits just coming at Michigan State. It appears the ineptitude, corruption, etc., etc., starts at the top . . .

I assume the author means the Board Chair Vassar “held up” rather than “upheld? If so obstructed would be a better choice of words. Journalism Isn’t what it used to be.

“In the letter, Scott said Vassar acted outside of her authority to singlehandedly settle university disputes, traveled at the expense of major university donors without submitting financial disclosures, and upheld an ongoing investigation into the leak of Brenda Tracy's name, a university vendor who accused now-fired Michigan State University football coach Mel Tucker of sexually harassing her.”
