Wait you honestly want him to leave and get a masters elsewhere next year?? You realize how much worse we will be in the post if that happens right? Sure he isn't great but to say we are thin in the post would be a massive understatement.

:thumb: totally agree.

Starting 5 next game:

Black
Ebo
Williams
Frazier
Alstork

That should get us going and leave us with:

Lucas
Smith
Jordan
Finke
Kipper

Black has nice mid-range jumpers at start of the season. But why we isolate him so much early game to post-up bigs much taller than him and get blocked? Do not understand BU's choice of play set in many times.

Underwood, likes the spark off the bench, I don't know about him, but I'd like to see him change it up, Start fFrazier and Williams. Will that change things? I hope so. I would certainly try it.
Alstork, plays because of his defense. The reason he's been less aggressive on offense? Because he hasn't been shooting the well and he has lost some confidence as a result. Tonight he was 2/3 from 3. Underwood, says he doing a lot of things well besides scoring. I won't disagree with him, but I certainly thought he would be more of a factor on offense from what I read before the season started.
Same with, Smith. I'm not down on him, however, I thought he would shoot the ball from 3 better and looked for more scoring from him. I thought he would be a little quicker, also.
Great game by Ebo. Williams, really hit the boards and played with energy.

I think Groce used Finke in the right way - fixing him in the corner and shooting 3s. Nothing more than that. BU wants Finke to be the playmaker. Not going to happen.

Real shame that next years class is only 1 man at this point. Seems pretty clear that holdovers are having a difficult time adjusting. Hopefully, Ayo can work some magic or it starts clicking.

I’m stunned Kipper isn’t playing better in this offense. I thought he be a great fit for a faster tempo. The key to this season might be BU unlocking his potential like he’s done with Black.

I am not a rocket scientist but I find it curious that the 2 players with the prettiest hair are the guys who against good competition do not make shots and seem to not do much else. It is one thing to be outmanned but the mental toughness to make wide open shots isn’t much. These 2 players were supposed to be potential mismatches to help offset the mismatches we face but for the most part that hasn’t happened all season. At least we look cool though......

Kipper has so much potential. I was really excited to see him blossom last year and I expected a lot from him in this offense. Really hope he puts it together. This team really needs him to be successful.

Completely agree. I thought he was going to be a star with BU. I’m not close enough to the team to even pretend that I know what his holdups are. Clearly there’s an effort issue, but personally I think that’s a mental thing. Maybe BU’s personality just doesn’t encourage the best from Kipper?

I like this :thumb:

A couple weeks ago Jordan was in the starting lineup. What’s happened since then? It baffles me.

I can’t believe we aren’t getting one of the best shooters in the country more looks. With Kipper, Tejon, and Finke there could be fit issues, but Jordan seemed to fit so well earlier in the season.

I get that the competition has changed... and the Nunn example of what’s he doing in Oakland, etc. I’m just surprised how quickly he’s faded into the background.

I’m very optimistic for “our” future, but man, what a baffling season already.

Why has the starting line up been so slow to change even though we consistently come out behind by 10+ points in the first few minutes? In my mind, there is absolutely zero case for Frazier not starting. Would like to see Williams too.

Also, Finke has been more frustrating to watch than ever. He can't guard in the post (or any other position), and gets a shockingly low number of rebounds for a starting big. I don't know what the solution there is, but I don't think he will ever be able to go up against B1G big men.

You could tell this game they came out and seemed surprised by Minnesota's length on both ends. They blocked tons of shots early and just manhandled us on the glass simply by being taller. Great adjustments by BU and the team to make the comeback. The switch to the zone really bothered Minny and kept them from getting inside too easily.

The announcers made a comment that Illinois is like Minny from a couple seasons ago when they had all freshman and now that those guys are upperclassmen they are a lot more competitive. I think we are farther ahead now than they were. Future is bright for this squad.

Patience wearing very thin. I know it's early, but having suffered through the last of the Weber years and then Groce, I have no patience left for this. They better start winning some games soon. Other than the Mizzou, game it is the same old crap of giving the team a mile head start and trying to catch up. Unacceptable!

Or what?

Anyone who expected us to win this game was setting themselves up for disappointment. All these frigging ROAD games to start the big ten schedule - seems like it happens every year?

Or...else

The team keeps improving, thats all a coach or fan can ask. Effort and improvement. Hit a few of the open 3s and they win...

They have talent, but not overwhelming talent, the season will be long and thats ok as long as the effort and growth are there.

4th season in a row where we play 2 of first 3 on road - this season even worse 3 out of 4. Total BS

How long will the mediocrity continue? A fan can grow very old waiting for Illinois basketball to improve. Saw enough tonight, turned it off. Can't get enthusiastic about their next game. This is rotten: last time we had a good team was some 13 years ago.
Enough already.

It's not mediocrity at all. This team shows improvement every game. It is fun to watch and it is young. If you can't see the future I can't help you. Realistic fans didn't thing the turn around would happen in a year. I never did and still don't think this team is going The Tournament but it will be fun to watch.
