Hmmmmm. If this is for real, maybe that’s the thing BU was talking about with the inconsistencies between programs.

We would be punished for having a testing plan in place and trying to be somewhat protective of vulnerable populations (even if that’s not as needed anymore) while other teams are just shooting from the hip and doing whatever.

They absolutely CANNOT have the conference championship decided (by positive COVID tests that are most likely mild or asymptomatic) via a forfeit or two.

Missouri men's basketball coach Cuonzo Martin has tested positive for COVID-19, he announced Monday on social media. Martin has been vaccinated for coronavirus since early this year.
The Tigers (6-6) are scheduled to play their first Southeastern Conference game Wednesday at No. 18 Kentucky. Martin will not join the team in Lexington, Kentucky for the game but could return for MU's next game, Jan. 5 at home against Mississippi State.

No Mizzou players have tested positive as of Monday, a team spokesperson said.

Under the SEC’s newly revised cancellation policies, men’s and women’s basketball teams will be required to play games if they have at least seven scholarship players and one countable coaching staff member available. The team impacted by COVID cases has the option to play with fewer than the seven players and/or one countable coach. Otherwise, the league will reschedule the game or declare a no-contest.

Of course, one thing helping the Blues achieve some level of stasis is that so many players have already had COVID. The Blues have had 14 players test positive for COVID this season (one, Kyle Clifford, is no longer with the team) and because players who have tested positive don’t get tested again for the next three months, about half of the current squad doesn’t have to worry about being pulled from practice and missing games.

So Clownzo and The Scott Trade Center not being properly cleaned and sanitized passed along Covid to the team?

They got us in the end!

That bolded part is how the quarantine system worked in my school district last year. Once you were positive you were clear and free for 90 days. I think they said that was due to the effectiveness of the natural antibodies after infection with the original strain.

I actually really like that sec policy though from a coaching standpoint. If you’re gonna forfeit you might as well play. Plenty of one off upsets happen in college athletics.

Daughter and son-in -law went to in-laws for Holidays. Eight staying in the house. Half, including them, tested positive today. With relative certainty, we can be confident that this has played out in the home trips of many players. Fortunately, for those vaccinated and boosted, symptoms are mild and not life threatening, as was the case at in-laws house. What we don't know is how effective such cases are against future infections and variants. Just when our guys are starting to hit shots, free throws, pass the ball, and defend the drive....BANG....Illini basketball is taken away. As much as anyone, I feel your pain! Keep the faith my friends...and get the vaccine.

"The women's game against Northwestern on Friday won't be played due to Covid 19 within the Northwestern program. The announcement says that the schools are trying to find a re-schedule to date. It also says that: 'Per the Conference office, information regarding how this game will be treated in relation to the Big Ten Conference 2021-22 Forfeiture Policy will be announced in the coming days.'"

So it sounds like the B1G has already begun reevaluating it's rule.

I do believe this rule was written/added to ensure teams were getting their shots (including the boosters), adhering to the mask-wearing protocols, and being overall good citizens. Big 10 Leadership was all the while thinking we were finally seeing an end to the pandemic early last fall.

The NFL and NBA were in the same position -- and they've changed/adapted, with the most recent surge in Covid cases.

And speaking of "ON TOPIC" I'm bummed about the demolition of that old South Farms Feed Mill at the junction of Fourth and St. Mary's Road in November. That white silo complex went together with The AH like white and rice.
