First NCAA coach that can convince his kids to go with underhand free throws is going to gain a big advantage in free throw shooting percentage. Unfortunately this advantage will be completely offset by a massive implosion in the recruiting department.

I don't know what the numbers are but if we are consistently bad in that area then I guess you got a point. I do remember how much Kofi improved in that area last year so he's at least one person the coaches helped with free throws.

Kofi 57.9 last year and 67.7 this year. He needs to be at 75% by year end.
Pretty sure you have those stats reversed. He was 67.7% last year and has regressed to 57.9%.

Are you saying that underhanded FT shooting is inherently more accurate? My pops "pitched" 99 straight in HS underhanded and taught me the same but I converted to traditional and can still drop 88 to 93 of a hundred most days.
Personally, I think it is easier to create a consistent one handed action over pitching them underhand. That is just my opinion of course but I still teach FTs the same way my coach, not my pops, taught me....but I have been changing the release and guide finger over the last decade based on new concepts that seem to improve accuracy.
Its been studied scientifically and yes, underhanded free throw shots are inherently more accurate.

Kofi hit like 17/18 FTs last year. He’s clearly capable of hitting them but this year the ball doesn’t look good coming off his hand

He had a 6 game stretch where he hit 28/32 FTs. That’s 88%. He’s clearly capable of making them. Not many 50-60% foul shooters ever have that good stretch.
This year he has looked like he is arching his back away from the basket more as he comes up from the knee bend. Just stand up straight, big fella.

My main takeaway from the game was that Ayo and Belo’s ball dominance really took the other players out of the offense except for Kofi. I did love how they were getting him involved, but seemed like for much of second half it was only Ayo, Belo or Kofi shooting. Some of that might be able to be blamed on other players not stepping up and making themselves more available, but just didn’t seem that way. So while it’s hard to fault Ayo or Belo’s overall performance, I think that ball dominance hurt some — especially last 3 minutes or so.
