MSU Changes Name

I'm sure it has been addressed but I don't want to look back through anything having to do with MSU, but does this mean Rocket Mortgage will sponsor housing for players parents at a "low low rate."

Everybody gotta get paid....

Somewhere in the Terms and Conditions, I'm sujre the scholarship paperwork gives away the players own naming rights too. Everyone's going to have to change their name to some version of Rocket Mortgage.

Rocket "the Mortgage" Watts - he has a few more years of eligibility, so he should be able to really cash in on this.

Saw a Rocket Mortgage ad today on B1G and they claim to sponsor collegiate sports and have a number of school logos at the close of the ad including Michigan and Ohio State. Didn't see Illinois.

When I first saw this headline I thought jeez, there must be some spartans still alive that are offended by the team name.

This is fake news.
It's a little more complicated than that. This was verbatim in MSU's press release:

Under the new five-year deal, Detroit-based Rocket Mortgage will be the presenting sponsor of the famed men's basketball team which will now be known throughout the Breslin Center as, "MSU Spartans Presented by Rocket Mortgage."

So, if we're being precise, the new name will be plastered throughout the Breslin Center, but it is not necessarily what they will insist on being called anywhere outside of the Center. That said, they have no ability to prevent the rest of us from calling them that everywhere. Which I very much plan on doing. Because it's funny.

I didn't know Dan Gilbert was an MSU alum. This may have been discussed already and if I missed it, apologies, and beach houses for each of you, paid for by Dan Gilbert, the billionaire. Did Gilbert hire away Beilein away from SCUM to coach the Cavs, knowing it likely wouldn't work out, but really didn't care, just to get him out of the mix? Especially after a flirtation with Izzo? If so, brilliant, yet also sad. I wish I was young enough to do a thorough investigation as a reporter about this. I nominate the state of Michigan for having the dirtiest balls in the BIG, and possibly the country. Plus, Juwan throwing his Grandma and Chicago under the bus for his street fighting ways. What a p***y...
