Love Grace Potter. In a similar vein, we’re hosting Anna Popovic next month. But, for me, $10 a month is a bit much on my $15,000 salary. I still do the free stuff.

Waiting for Columbus is the first live album by the band Little Feat, recorded during seven performances in 1977. The first four shows were held at the Rainbow Theatre in London on August 1–4, 1977. The final three shows were recorded the following week at George Washington University's Lisner Auditorium in Washington, D.C. on August 8–10. Local Washington radio personality Don "Cerphe" Colwell can be heard leading the audience in a "F-E-A-T" spellout in between the first ("Join the Band") and second ("Fat Man in the Bathtub") tracks.

The band were backed by the Tower of Power horn section with whom they had recorded for their 1974 album Feats Don't Fail Me Now.[4] The result was one of their biggest selling albums.

Many of their more well-known songs were either re-worked or extended. For instance, one of their signature songs, "Dixie Chicken", was heavily extended to include a lengthy piano solo by keyboardist Bill Payne, a Dixieland horn arrangement and finally a dual guitar jam between the band's two guitarists, Lowell George and Paul Barrère. In some cases, songs such as "Rocket in My Pocket" and "Mercenary Territory" were re-worked to include the horn section, and Little Feat additionally covered such tunes as Fraternity of Man's "Don't Bogart That Joint" and Allen Toussaint's "On Your Way Down" (which had also appeared on 1973's Dixie Chicken album). Former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor makes a guest appearance playing slide guitar on "A Apolitical Blues".

The band recorded and mixed enough material from these performances for a triple LP, but for marketing reasons kept it to a double album. Three of the unused tracks were included on their 1981 album Hoy-Hoy!. All were eventually released on the 2002 "Deluxe edition" CD.

It was voted number 804 in the third edition of Colin Larkin's All Time Top 1000 Albums (2000).[5]

The cover art, by Neon Park,[6] depicts items from the Americas unknown to Europeans before Columbus: an anthropomorphic tomato on a hammock in front of a backdrop of American native foliage and cactus.

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (often shortened to Ziggy Stardust) is the fifth studio album by English musician David Bowie, released on 16 June 1972 in the United Kingdom by RCA Records. It was produced by Bowie and Ken Scott and features Bowie's backing band the Spiders from MarsMick Ronson, Trevor Bolder and Mick Woodmansey. Most of the songs were written around the same time as its predecessor Hunky Dory. After that album was completed, recording for Ziggy Stardust commenced in November 1971 at Trident Studios in London, with further sessions in early February 1972.
Described as a rock opera and a loose concept album, Ziggy Stardust concerns Bowie's titular alter ego Ziggy Stardust, a fictional androgynous, bisexual rock star who is sent to Earth as a savior before an impending apocalyptic disaster. The character was inspired by numerous musicians, including English singer Vince Taylor. Most of the album's concept was developed after the songs were recorded. The character was retained for the subsequent Ziggy Stardust Tour. A concert film of the same name, directed by D. A. Pennebaker, was filmed in July 1973 and released in 1979, and a live album from the same show followed in 1983.
The music on Ziggy Stardust has been characterised as glam rock and proto-punk. The songs were influenced by Iggy Pop of the Stooges, Lou Reed of the Velvet Underground, and Marc Bolan of T. Rex. The album's lyrics discuss the artificiality of rock music, political issues, drug use, sexual orientation and stardom. The album cover, photographed by Brian Ward in monochrome and recoloured by Terry Pastor, was taken in London, outside the home of furriers "K. West".
Preceded by the single "Starman", Ziggy Stardust peaked at number 5 on the UK Albums Chart and number 75 on the US Billboard 200. The album received widespread critical acclaim and, following his performance of "Starman" on the English television programme Top of the Pops, propelled Bowie to stardom. Not wanting Ziggy to define him, Bowie created a new character, Aladdin Sane, for his next album, which Bowie described as "Ziggy goes to America". It has since been called one of the most important albums in the glam rock genre and one of the greatest albums of all time. The album has been reissued several times and was remastered in 2012 for its 40th anniversary. In 2017, it was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry, being deemed "culturally, historically, or artistically significant" by the Library of Congress.

Bloodrock is the self-titled debut from the Fort Worth, Texas, hard rock band Bloodrock, released on Capitol Records in March 1970. The cover art was designed by producer Terry Knight. AllMusic described the album in terms of hard rock and early "proto-metal", akin to Deep Purple. The album "remains a cult favorite among fans of hard rock."[1]

Bloodrock 2

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bloodrock 2 is the second album by the Texas rock band Bloodrock.[3] It was released on Capitol Records in October 1970 and produced by Terry Knight. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA in 1990.[4]
In early 1971, the gory extended track "D.O.A." became the biggest hit of Bloodrock's career when it was issued in shorter form as a single.[4] The motivation for writing the song was explained in 2005 by guitarist Lee Pickens. “When I was 17, I wanted to be an airline pilot,” Pickens said. “I had just gotten out of this airplane with a friend of mine, at this little airport, and I watched him take off. He went about 200 feet in the air, rolled and crashed.

Bloodrock was a very underrated band, IMHO.........My favorite song is " Lucky in the Morning " on # 2 album, with the drummer playing his butt off..
The band, with a heavy leaning on great keyboards played on a Hammond B-3 and at least 2 Leslie speaker cabinets made me love their music from the first listening pleasure...saw them live in 1969 @ Evansville, In....great show

Emerson, Lake & Palmer

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP) were an English progressive rock supergroup formed in London in April 1970.[2][3] The band consisted of Keith Emerson (keyboards), Greg Lake (vocals, bass, guitar and producer) and Carl Palmer (drums and percussion). With nine RIAA-certified gold record albums in the US,[4] and an estimated 48 million records sold worldwide,[5] they were one of the most popular and commercially successful progressive rock bands in the 1970s,[6][7] with a musical sound including adaptations of classical music with jazz and symphonic rock elements, dominated by Emerson's flamboyant use of the Hammond organ, Moog synthesizer, and piano (although Lake wrote several acoustic songs for the group.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer is the debut studio album by English progressive rock band Emerson, Lake & Palmer. It was released in November 1970 by Island Records in the United Kingdom and in January 1971 by Cotillion Records in the United States. After the group formed in the spring of 1970, they entered rehearsals and prepared material for an album which became a mix of original songs and rock arrangements of classical music. The album was recorded at Advision Studios in July 1970, when the band had yet to perform live. Lead vocalist and bassist/guitarist Greg Lake produced it.

Upon release, the album went to No. 4 in the United Kingdom and No. 18 in United States.[2][3] Lake's song "Lucky Man" was released as a single in 1970 and helped the group achieve radio airplay; it peaked at No. 48 in the United States.

The New Yorker described Sade's voice as a "grainy contralto full of air that betrays a slight ache but no agony, and values even imperfect dignity over a show of pain", a "deeply English" quality that makes categorising the artist's voice difficult.[72] Her voice was described by the BBC as "husky and restrained" and compared to singer Billie Holiday. BBC called her songwriting "sufficiently soulful and jazzy yet poppy, funky yet easy listening, to appeal to fans of all those genres.

I have listened to Sade for many years and I love all her albums, but ""Love Deluxe "" is by far my favorite one....Every song has a life to me and Cherish the Day, with the subtle guitar licks makes it my fav song......

The Cars, 1984. L–R: Benjamin Orr, Greg Hawkes, David Robinson, Ric Ocasek, and Elliot Easton.
The Cars were an American rock band formed in Boston in 1976. Emerging from the new wave scene in the late 1970s, the line-up consisted of Elliot Easton (lead guitar), Greg Hawkes (keyboards), Ric Ocasek (rhythm guitar), Benjamin Orr (bass guitar), and David Robinson (drums). Ocasek and Orr split lead vocal duties, and Ocasek served as the band's principal songwriter.
The Cars were at the forefront of merging 1970s guitar-oriented rock with the new synthesizer-oriented pop that was then becoming popular and flourishing in the early 1980s. Robert Palmer, music critic for The New York Times and Rolling Stone, described the Cars' musical style: "they have taken some important but disparate contemporary trends—punk minimalism, the labyrinthine synthesizer and guitar textures of art rock, the '50s rockabilly revival and the melodious terseness of power pop—and mixed them into a personal and appealing blend.

Heartbeat City is the fifth studio album by American rock band the Cars, released on March 13, 1984, by Elektra Records. The band produced the album with Robert John "Mutt" Lange.

Heartbeat City spawned six singles. "Drive" and "You Might Think" reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at numbers three and seven, respectively.[8] A number of songs from the album gained significant radio and television exposure, notably "Drive", "You Might Think" and "Magic", which all received heavy rotation on MTV. The title track served as the album's sixth and final single outside North America.

The lead vocals on "Drive" were performed by bassist Benjamin Orr. The song's video was directed by actor Timothy Hutton and features Ric Ocasek arguing with a troubled young woman played by model Paulina Porizkova (whom Ocasek would later marry). "Hello Again" had a video directed by Andy Warhol, who also appeared onscreen
The Cars always were a fav of mine....Different approach with great results........I have most of their albums but this one is my first pick if I'm in a Cars mood....My favorite song on Heartbeat City is ""Why Can't I Have You ""..........haunting background vocals, with a pertinet but subtle bass drum backbone......

Robin Trower

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robin Leonard Trower (born 9 March 1945) is an English rock guitarist and vocalist who achieved success with Procol Harum throughout 1967–1971, and then again as the bandleader of his own power trio known as the Robin Trower Band.

Biography[edit]

Robin Trower was born in Catford, London, England, and grew up in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. In 1962, he formed a band that became the Paramounts, later including Westcliff High School pupil Gary Brooker.[1] The Paramounts disbanded in 1966 to pursue individual projects. During this time, Trower created a local three-piece band called the Jam (not to be confused with the later group with Paul Weller).[1] Trower then joined Brooker's new band Procol Harum following the success of their debut single "A Whiter Shade of Pale" in 1967, remaining with them until 1971 and appearing on the group's first five albums

Trower retained Dewar as his bassist, who took on lead vocals as well, and recruited drummer Reg Isidore (later replaced by Bill Lordan) to form the Robin Trower Band in 1973.[4] In 1974, the group released Bridge of Sighs.[1] This album, along with his first and third solo albums, was produced by his former Procol Harum bandmate, organist Matthew Fisher. His early power trio work was noted for Jimi Hendrix influences.[4] Trower is an influential guitarist who has inspired other guitar legends such as Robert Fripp, who praised him for his string bending and the quality of his sounds, and took lessons from him.[5]

In the early 1980s, Trower teamed up with former Cream bassist Jack Bruce and his previous drummers Lordan and Isidore for two albums, BLT (Bruce, Lordan, Trower) and Truce (Trower, Bruce, Isidore).[4] After those albums, he released another album with James Dewar on vocals titled Back It Up in 1983.[6] Robin Trower was dropped from Chrysalis Records afterwards.[7]

Equipment[edit]

During a 1971 tour with Jethro Tull, Robin Trower arrived early for a sound check and found Martin Barre's Fender Stratocaster (which Barre used for slide playing) propped up against an amplifier. Trower picked up the guitar, plugged it in, and with a shout that resounded around the auditorium he yelled, "This is it!" "I then switched to Strat" he says. "Up to then I had been playing Les Pauls."[10]

Trower in 1975
Since then Trower has been an ongoing proponent of the Fender Stratocaster. He currently uses his custom-built Strat (made by the Fender Custom Shop) which comes in black, arctic white and midnight wine burst. The guitar is equipped with a 1950s reissue pick-up in the neck position, a 1960s reissue in the middle position, and a Texas Special at the bridge.[11] Other features included a custom C-shaped maple neck featuring a large headstock with a Bullet truss-rod system, locking machine heads and a maple fingerboard with narrow-spaced abalone dot position inlays and 21 jumbo frets

1625047959134.png

Bridge of Sighs is the second solo album by the English guitarist and songwriter Robin Trower. Released in 1974, it was his second album after leaving Procol Harum, and was a commercial breakthrough for Trower. Songs such as "Bridge of Sighs", "Too Rolling Stoned", "Day of the Eagle" and "Little Bit of Sympathy" became live concert staples.

  4. "The Fool and Me" (James Dewar, Robin Trower) – 3:57

Side two[edit]

  1. "Too Rolling Stoned" – 7:29
  2. "About to Begin" – 3:43
  3. "Lady Love" (Dewar, Trower) – 3:21
  4. "Little Bit of Sympathy" – 4:20
The title song is excellent , but for me the best song on the album is " Too Rolling Stoned "...........bone rockin song , with a beat that gets your toes a-tappin..........The guitar magic by Robin Trower comes out , to me , on this song.....The long guitar riff starting around the 3:25 mark of the song is , in my opinion, one of the top 10 guitar riffs that I have ever heard....The many times that I listen to this song I will start around the start of this magnificent solo.....The background noise of the crowd during this solo is awesome also.....
I will post this and then go to post album # 2 review.......

Personnel[edit]

Some of the vocals sound eerily similar to Jack Bruce, and Robin has worked with Jack in the past , but no mention above ...Oh well, my bad...

This review jumps from 1984 to 2009 as I try to show the difference in style during this time frame...

The first two songs of this album capture the warmth and greatness of Robin..

"Wish You Were Mine"

The first strokes of the guitar, on this song, grab you and hold you throughout the song.....His beauty in steady wowing of your senses with his play shows me the love of his craft and the ability to transform that to the listener......Great song....

"What Lies Beneath"

On the album ,the first song above seemlessly slides into this song with an abrupt wah-wah sound that changes your listening content to a more progressive pleasure....Really enjoy these two songs as the opening up of the album's poetry.....

"Time and Emotion"

This song is a haunting tune that gets you to sway back and forth with the rich organ sounds soothing what ails your soul........guitar pickin at it's finest....

"Skin and Bone"

Rowdy beat with Robin getting in licks that make you appreciate his art........hold on to something at the 2:10 mark as he unleashes some raucous notes......

Onto album # 3

'The Playful Heart'

Robin Trower's 2010 CD reviewed by Gerard York

This review was originally written for Hittin' the Note magazine, and is reproduced here by permission of author Gerard York (pictured below with Robin Trower in 2008). Robin told BtP (telephone call, 23 March 2011) that he's been 'fantastically gratified' by the response to this wonderful album.

Robin Trower returns with The Playful Heart, a strong set of eleven musical vignettes reflecting on love and life. Notwithstanding Trower’s use of the power trio format, there are a number of strikingly intimate songs on The Playful Heart. No more Hendrix-inspired heaviness about being “too rolling stoned”! Trower recorded these songs with the same group of musicians he has been touring with for a number of years – drummer Pete Thompson, singer Davey Pattison, and bassist Glenn Letsch, plus frequent Trower collaborator, bassist Livingstone Brown.

playful-heart.jpg
While Trower has made his name as a guitar hero, The Playful Heart reminds all what a great songwriter he is. Trower himself sings half the songs, and his thin, reedy voice is in perfect range for many of these slower, reflective tunes. Trower arguably set his template for these songs in the shimmering Song for a Dreamer, Procol Harum’s tribute to Jimi Hendrix on the 1971 album Broken Barricades: a number of tunes on The Playful Heart have extended outros, where the notes dreamily float off into the ether.

Steady power chords propel album opener The Playful Heart, a song where a disappointed lover expresses a sense of loss because “the world could not fulfil the playful heart.” Pattison’s voice is strong, but not quite as soulful as the deep-throated growl of the late James Dewar, the fellow Scot bassist-vocalist who performed in Trower’s line-up in the 1970s and 1980s. The mid-tempo Don’t Look Back provides individual portraits of regret with a throaty warning from Trower, “Don’t swim out on the torn dark sea / To drown in doubt and self pity / Don’t look back.”

The light Dressed in Gold is reminiscent of the psychedelic pop of early Traffic albums, offering a portrait of an aging socialite who “holds every last flame in thrall.” A pulsing bass line opens the slow, almost hypnotic Find Me, with Trower’s guitar tangling with a breathy Pattison vocal.

While the album has a number of slower, reflective tunes, it has some scorching rockers as well. The Turning features crisp, full Santana-like solos with an extended outro and provides a determined portrait of individual resolve (“Time has come – to lose the pasts / Ashes to the wind / When the first becomes the last / The turning shall begin”). The muscular Song for Those Who Fell, offering a guttural vocal by Trower, expressing the regrets of one “who fell / Over a heart they could not keep.”

The tender Maybe I Could Be a Friend offers another breathy vocal by Pattison, and delicate, aching solos from Trower. The downbeat Prince of Shattered Dreams finds a disappointed lover pondering lost love. The worldly observer of the jazzy Camille urges this young lady on the street to leave smoke-filled rooms and seek true love. The rhythm section shines in the throbbing Not Inside – Outside as the singers express a resolve to get “outside this whole mess”. And We Shall Call it Love ends the album with Trower singing a soft invocation to the blessings of love “And from this day I’ll be with you …”

The Playful Heart is very similar in mood and atmosphere to Trower’s 2009 release What Lies Beneath, another equally strong release full of largely introspective, moody songs. Neither of these recent albums has much of the Hendrix-influenced heaviness of Trower’s landmark 1970s albums like 1974’s Bridge of Sighs. Those looking for an introduction to Trower’s classic period would do well to obtain the recently released UK anthology Robin Trower: A Tale Untold, which includes five 1970s chart-topping releases from Trower (Twice Removed from Yesterday, Bridge of Sighs, For Earth Below, Live and Long Misty Days), plus various b-sides, unreleased cuts and single edits. Also, Procol Harum’s 1970 Home (featuring the absolute barn-burner Whisky Train”) and 1971' s Broken Barricades both show Trower stepping forward as a songwriter and fiery guitarist. More recently, 2008’s Seven Moons, which Trower recorded with bassist Jack Bruce, sounds like a long-lost Cream album and is not to be missed.

RT@RO.08, a 2008 CD / DVD release, features Trower’s touring band enthusiastically covering 17 songs from 1973’s Twice Removed from Yesterday through 2004’s Another Time, Another Place. Singer Davey Pattison, who also sang for Ronnie Montrose's Gamma, first sang with Trower in 1987’s Passion. Veteran UK drummer Pete Thompson also joined Trower with the Passion album. Thompson, who played on Robert Plant’s Fate of Nations, is a versatile enough drummer to tap along perfectly on the slow songs yet powerful enough to engage in a truly Bonham-esque mashup when required. Bassist Letsch joined the Trower line-up just in time for RT@RO.08, replacing veteran Trower bassist Dave Bronze.

Listeners won’t go wrong picking up The Playful Heart: If Trower keeps releasing great albums like The Playful Heart and What Lies Beneath, another trip to the top of the charts may not be far away!

Jethro Tull are a British rock band formed in Blackpool, England, in 1967. Initially playing blues rock and jazz fusion, the band later developed their sound to incorporate elements of hard rock and folk to forge a progressive rock signature.[3] The band is led by vocalist/flautist/guitarist Ian Anderson, and has featured a revolving door of lineups through the years which include significant members such as longtime guitarist Martin Barre, keyboardists John Evan, Dee Palmer, Peter-John Vettese and Andrew Giddings, drummers Clive Bunker, Barrie "Barriemore" Barlow and Doane Perry, and bassists Glenn Cornick, Jeffrey Hammond, John Glascock, Dave Pegg and Jonathan Noyce.

1625097193926.png

Benefit is the third studio album by the British rock band Jethro Tull, released in April 1970. It was the first Tull album to include pianist and organist John Evan – though he was not yet considered a permanent member of the group – and the last to include bass guitarist Glenn Cornick, who was fired from the band upon completion of touring for the album. It was recorded at Morgan Studios, the same studio where the band recorded its previous album Stand Up; however, they experimented with more advanced recording techniques.[2]

Frontman Ian Anderson said that he considers Benefit to be a much darker album than Stand Up, owing to the pressures of an extensive U.S. tour and frustration with the music business

This was a hard choice to pick which album from Jethro Tull to post here, but this is it for me.....I saw Jethro Tull five times live, with the first time way back in 1971 at SIU-C......Again , I was lucky to know somebody that could get us tickets close to the stage....We were 10 rows from the stage.....The warm up band was Wild Turkey, whose bassist was formerly in Vanilla Fudge ( all you old hippies should remember that band).....After Wild Turkey finished up their set a number of dudes in long black coats came out to change out amps and etc.....When they finished up the change up they all whipped off their coats and it was Jethro Tull who had done all the switching......Ian Anderson started his frenetic running across the stage and IT WAS ON FROM THERE...
Awesome to say the least....

Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus is the fourth album by the American psychedelic rock group Spirit. It was produced by David Briggs, who is best known for his work with Neil Young. The original LP was released in November 1970 by Epic. The band's lowest charting album to that point, it peaked at #63 on the Billboard 200 in February 1971, spending only fourteen weeks on the chart. However, it sold well as a catalog item and became the band's only album to ultimately attain a RIAA gold certification in the U.S., achieving that status in 1976.[5] On the Canadian RPM Magazine Top 100 charts, the album reached #49 and was in the top 100 for 10 weeks.[6]
"Nature's Way" became one of Spirit's signature songs, but was not a big hit at the time, peaking at #111 on the Billboard pop charts in 1971. To capitalize on the album's enduring appeal, "Mr. Skin" (the B-side of "Nature's Way") was released as an A-side in 1973 and also charted, peaking at #92. It was voted number 332 in Colin Larkin's All Time Top 1000 Albums 3rd Edition (2000). [7]
Despite these commercial limitations, Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus enjoyed significant airing on college FM radio. The album was re-issued on CD in 1996 by Sony in remastered form, with bonus tracks.

Aerosmith is an American rock band formed in Boston in 1970.[2] The group consists of Steven Tyler (lead vocals), Joe Perry (guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass), Joey Kramer (drums) and Brad Whitford (guitar). Their style, which is rooted in blues-based hard rock,[3][4] has also incorporated elements of pop rock,[5] heavy metal,[3] glam metal,[6][7][8][9] and rhythm and blues,[10] and has inspired many subsequent rock artists.[11] They are sometimes referred to as "the Bad Boys from Boston"[12] and "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band".[13][14][15][16] The primary songwriting team of Tyler and Perry is often known as the "Toxic Twins

This album remains my favorite Aerosmith work.....The first song introduced me to a new sound back in 1970....a sound with an attitude, brash and bold..
Lord of the Thighs introduced me to the witty way to slide sexual lyrics past censorship. that at that time frame was so restrictive compared to today....
Each following song cemented my love for this band and has led to many, many hours of listening pleasure..
Train kept a Rollin is a live track and the mojo from the band grabs the crowd completely.....
The last two songs on the album are so great in a mystic and dark way..........

Aerosmith will always be on my Spotify devices ready to take me back in time to a dawn of my understanding of how music is so much a part of ME....

Stevie Ray Vaughan signature.svg
Stephen Ray Vaughan (October 3, 1954 – August 27, 1990) was an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer, best known as the guitarist and frontman of the blues rock band Double Trouble. Although his mainstream career only spanned seven years, he is considered to be one of the most iconic and influential musicians in the history of blues music, and one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Vaughan began playing guitar at age seven, initially inspired by his elder brother Jimmie Vaughan.
In 1972, he dropped out of high school and moved to Austin, where he began to gain a following after playing gigs on the local club circuit. Vaughan formed the band Double Trouble in 1978 and established it as part of the Austin music scene, which soon became one of the most popular acts in Texas. He performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1982 where David Bowie saw him play and contacted him for a studio gig, resulting in Stevie playing his blues guitar on the album Let's Dance (1983) before being discovered by John Hammond, who interested major label Epic Records in signing them to a record deal. Within months, Vaughan achieved mainstream success with Double Trouble for the critically acclaimed debut album Texas Flood. With a series of successful network television appearances and extensive concert tours, he became the leading figure in the blues revival of the 1980s. Playing his guitar behind his back or plucking the strings with his teeth like Jimi Hendrix did, he earned unprecedented stardom in Europe which later resulted in breakthroughs for guitar players like Robert Cray, Jeff Healey, Robben Ford and Walter Trout, amongst others.

On August 27, 1990, Vaughan and four others were killed in a helicopter crash in East Troy, Wisconsin, after performing with Double Trouble at Alpine Valley Music Theatre. An investigation concluded that the cause was pilot error and Vaughan's family later filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Omniflight Helicopters, which was settled out of court. Vaughan's music continued to achieve commercial success with several posthumous releases and has sold over 15 million albums in the United States alone. In 2003, David Fricke of Rolling Stone ranked him the seventh greatest guitarist of all time. Vaughan was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, along with Double Trouble bandmates Chris Layton, Tommy Shannon, and Reese Wynans.

In Step is the fourth studio album by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble released in 1989. The title In Step can be seen as referring to Vaughan's new-found sobriety, following the years of drug and alcohol use that eventually led Vaughan into rehabilitation. It was also Vaughan's final album with Double Trouble, and also Vaughan's last album to be released during his lifetime. In 1990, he recorded a collaboration album with his brother, Jimmie Vaughan, called Family Style; later that year, Stevie Ray Vaughan died in a helicopter crash.

This mind blowing album was released in 1967......I was sixteen at the time I acquired this album....My album experience up to then was watching my dad play Herb Alpert and the Tiajuana Brass on our stereo console in the living room.......I bought this album and was listening to it when my parents got home from work and I guess they thought Satan had invaded our home....needless to say, I soon purchased my own equipment for my room complete with elephant ears sized headphones....But, I didn't care.....A world of abstract wonderment had been introduced to my mind and brain cells and there was no going back for me then....I had just joined a pretty good band and we started playing every Friday and saturday nights at various teen towns around Southern Illinois....Life was good...

The tracks on this album need NO vindication from me....Fire and Foxy Lady are my fav's but all of the tracks are magical history to me .....

Deep Purple are an English rock band formed in Hertford, Hertfordshire, in 1968.[1] They are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock,[2][3] although their musical approach has changed over the years.[4] Originally formed as a psychedelic rock and progressive rock band, they shifted to a heavier sound with their 1970 album Deep Purple in Rock.[5] Deep Purple, together with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, have been referred to as the "unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal in the early- to mid-seventies".[6] They were listed in the 1975 Guinness Book of World Records as "the globe's loudest band" for a 1972 concert at London's Rainbow Theatre[7][8] and have sold over 100 million albums worldwide

Fireball is the fifth album by English rock band Deep Purple, released in 1971 and the second with the Mk II line-up. It was recorded at various times between September 1970 and June 1971. It became the first of the band's three UK No. 1 albums, though it did not stay on the charts as long as its predecessor, Deep Purple in Rock. Even though the album has sold over a million copies in the UK, it has never received a certification there.

Deep Purple was another band that influenced many music fans with their hard rockin style.....The majority of my friends and acquaintance's in the music industry think " Machine Head ", with the " Smoke on the Water " single is what Deep Purple is remembered for, I find that the album " Fireball " is in my personal top 20 of all time....Ritchie Blackmore was very underrated as a lead guitarist, and shows his creds throughout the album.....

Every song is a treat for me and tell a story from my mischief days that still gives me shivers....I just tried to rate the songs in order of my likes and i couldn't.....Give a listen and get back to me .....I listen at least 1-2 times a week to this gift of genius from one of my fav bands of long ago....

Spooky Tooth was an English rock band originally formed in Carlisle in 1967. Principally active between 1967 and 1974, the band re-formed several times in later years.

Prior to Spooky Tooth, four of the band's five founding members had performed in the band Art (formerly known as The V.I.P.'s). Following the dissolution of Art, the members of that band's final line-up (guitarist Luther Grosvenor, vocalist Mike Harrison, drummer Mike Kellie and bassist Greg Ridley) joined forces with American keyboardist/vocalist Gary Wright in October 1967 and formed Spooky Tooth. Wright was introduced to the members of Art by Chris Blackwell, founder of Island Records.[1]

You Broke My Heart So ... I Busted Your Jaw is an album by Spooky Tooth, first released in 1973 on Island Records. It was the first album to be released after the band re-formed, following their 1970 breakup. Founding guitarist Luther Grosvenor did not rejoin the band, as he had joined Mott The Hoople as a guitarist, adopting the stage name of Ariel Bender. Grosvenor was replaced by Mick Jones, who later co-founded Foreigner while founding drummer Mike Kellie was replaced by Bryson Graham. The album was remastered and re-released with a bonus track on compact disc (CD) in January 2005 by Repertoire.

Spooky Tooth was a favorite of mine after hearing some tracks of this album while listening to WCIL-fm radio station in Carbondale, Il in the early 70's....It just so happened that in 1973 or 74 (?) Spooky Tooth was booked for concert in Carbondale at the Shryock Autotorium along with Ratt.......What a night....
The pipe organ in the Hall was blowing my mind just looking at it , then the stage came alive with Ratt singing their hit "" Round and Round "" and it was chaos from then until Spooky Tooth concluded their set's.......

All the tracks in this album are good, but the ones that stand out for me are :

Old as I was Born
Holy Water
Wildfire
Times Have Changed
and my fav of the album.......
Moriah......

This album is another one of those 1-2 times weekly trips back into my music experience's of life.......Enjoy !!!!!!

The Fixx are a rock band from London, England founded in 1979. The band's hits include "One Thing Leads to Another", "Saved by Zero", "Are We Ourselves?", and "Secret Separation", each of which charted on U.S. Top 20 Billboard Hot 100, as well as mainstream rock chart hits "Red Skies", "Stand or Fall", "Driven Out" and "Deeper and Deeper", which was featured on the soundtrack of the 1984 film Streets of Fire

Reach the Beach is the second studio album by British new wave band the Fixx, released on 15 May 1983. It was the group's most successful album, reaching No. 8 on the Billboard albums chart[3] and eventually selling one million copies in the United States alone. The album was certified Platinum by the RIAA.[4] It was certified platinum in Canada in November 1983.

Reach the Beach contains their best-known and highest charting single, "One Thing Leads to Another", which reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Musicians
Agius left the Fixx partway through the recording sessions, and is not listed as an official group member in the album credits.
Brown played bass on one track, and on the subsequent tour; he would be promoted to full group-member status as of the next album, Phantoms.

I really got hooked on The Fixx by the way they intermingled progressive rock with a techno approach....their sound is fresh and consumimg ....While they are known for "Saved by Zero " and " One thing Leads to Another " , I tend to like some other tracks better ..."Reach the Beach " and " Liner " show what they can accomplish on lesser known songs and just prove to me that they were an overlooked band , in the sense of not being mentioned in that top tier of rock bands....I hold then near and dear to my heart and listen weekly to this album....I hope you will listen to it and enjoy it as much as I do....
