Yes... holding a head coach in job down that long means you usually learned a thing or two.

Kendrick's father, Melvin Nunn, said that going to play under Coach Kampe for two years was one of the best things for Kendrick. Very disciplinarian coach that held Kendrick accountable.

Sounds like something he could have used here at UofI in his first few years.

A coach may or may not be a disciplinarian in their own way, yet it's not their job to be a micromanager of each player. What's more important is for the players to become self-disciplined and to mature into accountable grownups.

Agreed. You can hold someone accountable without micromanaging each player. And kids all mature at different ages/speed, etc. Players and kids still need to learn the skill of self-discipline, be it in sports, school or home life.
