Wow, just watched ESPN's draft preview. I apologize to my @$$ for sitting through that. Trade news about Porzingas and talked about the first 3 picks. Some preview.

Frankly I felt KJ was frequently let down by his teammates when it came to passing and I expect his turnovers to be far fewer in the NBA.

If I were a GM, my concerns are can he keep his composure when the defense gets in his face and can he shoot like he did early in the season?

That all aside I say he deserves a lottery pick.
Not just his teammates, but the scheme. Too often he was doubled high on he PnR and we somehow haven't had an answer for that since Loyola did it to Ayo.

KJ had his faults, but not being able to counter defensive pressure with a lottery PG is the bigger crime here.

Seemed like UW did that in full force out of some desperation and it worked against him several times. Then the arm injury and other teams scheming similarly also made him more vulnerable, and he didn't do well until late in the season when he split that double team more often. It does seem like he should have had other options if teammates helped within different schemes.

Me personally, I'd rather CHI take a big in this draft since they badly need one. Perhaps like Derek Queen if he's still available. But if KJ is taken then I'd be thrilled.

Not sure the Bulls really need another guard, but it would be awesome to track KJ's early pro career in a Bulls uniform. Would just give me another reason to watch the Bulls besides just Ayo. Because after him, the team and the overall organization is pretty awful.
chi wont take kj bc they have no draft capital. queen will be a bust bc hes like a sengun type you need good development program. bulls only have quantity but what they need is quality if i was the gm i would easily take kj and riley and get rid of everyone white, ayo, etc. not just bc im from uiuc but these kids are very talented serious ceiling theres a reason celtics are trying to move up.

knowing their cheap owner and how they manage sox ive given up after following since rose draft. if they dont get kj which im sure hes 99% gone, i will support another team.

Same there were a lot of times where ppl would make the wrong cut and he made the right pass for the assumed situation

Then he had a lot of TOs post wrist injury where he just lost the ball with that hand..i assume that wont be a problem post rehabbing it. Not gonna lie those drove me crazy in the moment bc of how "easy" they looked but i get it
people just hate kj they dont know how good he is bc hes not super quick so hes this strereotypical euro white bust. while TO is a issue in the NBA meaning he wont be tyrese he has everything else all around guard and he shot like curry before injury. if he had ast/to like hali he would be going top 2 easily think of it as a discount whoever drafting him is lucky at a bargain.

The easy answer is a short roll. I've said this about ten times. We teach it to our 3rd graders. You fake the screen and roll behind the defense while the PG retreats and passes over the top to the screener. This leaves a 4v3 for the offense and should allow us get a cutter to the basket or a kick out three.

Obviously they'd counter with false pressure or bringing someone to attack the roller. At any rate, we can do this better, but it will continue to be an issue until we prove we can beat it.
