NBA/Pro/International Basketball

I catch the highlights of majority of the All-Star games once they are over. I know they are on a certain day but don't ever look into time, channel, etc anymore. Last All-Star game I watched was in 2020 for the NHL. Only reason for that was because I was at the game in St Louis.

NBA tries to play it from every which way and there is no consistency. Adam Silver talked about a more competitive All-Star game this season with some defense or changing rules on winning awards. McClung has hops but literally have a guy who has played no NBA games this season win the Dunk contest(again).

I would rather watch some MTV Rock N' Jock re-runs from the 90s than give into hours of watching this nonsense. NBA could throw in a random disappearing highlight circle shot from real deep for a 5 or 10 point shot inside of 2 minutes in the 3rd and 4th quarter to make sure fans are still awake :ROFLMAO:

He's handing out 5.2 assists per 36 minutes to Jaquez's 3.2, often of the daring variety, while actually averaging fewer turnovers per minute than Jaquez as well."

Podziemski's well-rounded game has meshed perfectly with a veteran Warriors core, with the rookie guard impacting the game in various ways whenever he is on the floor

Whoa. Pass that stuff around guy.

I hope Podz does well. He is certainly putting in the effort. I would not say he was there, or even in the vicinity yet. He benefiting greatly from the system he is playing in. Podz is shooting well, getting a lot of wide open looks. He is hitting the glass (impressively) hard. I can also get behind the rising comment. His defense at the start of the season was cringeworthy. Teams were running screens to generate 1:1 plays against him almost every trip down the court. There is no where to go but up. Way up. His defense has improved to a rating of below average. If Podz can fix those defensive mistakes, the Warriors are a contender.

So, Podz, ex-Wisc. highschool player of the year, transfers from Illini to mid-major to prove himself, becomes a star, is drafted, and is one of the top rookies in the league. Marcus Domask, ex-Wisc. highschool player of the year, transfers to Illini from mid-major to prove himself against top competition, becomes a star; why isn't he on any draftboards?

Domask is 2 or 3 years older than Podz. He’s also about 3 inches too short for his game to translate to today’s NBA.

I hope I’m wrong. But on the plus side, I think he’ll earn 6 figures a year in a premier Euro league for as long as he wants to.

Domask's entire game is built around exploiting the fact that college defenders aren't that good, and especially are inexperienced and jumpy in guarding the lane.

Someone like Andre Drummond is going to eat everything Domask does for breakfast, NBA centers don't make the mistakes Domask feasts on.

Whether you're Marcus Domask or Zach Edey or Kofi Cockburn or Tyler Kolek, players whose games are built around succeeding in close quarters don't really work with all the length and athleticism in the NBA. It's players who create and exploit space that make the jump, as Podz does.

(If this sounds like TSJ's music, exactly right)

as his father is a coach , it very well could be that coaching the game at some level is in his future .

Just saw Podz get a Happy Birthday shoutout on PTI. Who would have thunk.
Podz wasn't born when that show debuted

On the last Bill Simmons pod they had a real discussion on if his ceiling is an all star and Simmons said he thinks he can be a starter on a championship winning team. They compared him to Goran Dragic.
I hope he becomes Dan Majerle and not Jeremy Lin. Pods could not even get Santa Clara to the NCAA tournament. It will be truly amazing if he can stay an NBA starter.

Golden State team is strange animal. Stephan Curry makes everybody else on team twice as good by drawing 2 defenders and bailing team out at end of shot clock.

Glad to see Ayo have a couple great games and get a nice contract 3 year $21M. Unfortunately that is not starters money.
JMO - he seems to be same player he was as rookie albeit slightly better 3 pt shooting. Plays tough D. Stands in corner while team plays iso-ball. Has to improve to next level. AYO

Coby White is the one who has improved the most this season

That's really been happening for Ayo over the last month or so, he is emerging as a scorer and playmaker in the half court. That contract is an incredible bargain for the Bulls.

Sadly over the same period, Coby White, who has played the most minutes in the league and probably too many, has really started to struggle.

The team is just a total mess, but Ayo is a bright spot and continues to benefit from the faith Billy Donovan has always shown in him.

Ayo last 19 games: 15ppg, 3rpg, 4apg, 53% fg, 47%(!) from 3.
