Hunter Dickinson in 3 years: "You know I won a fraudulent B1G title, left for Kansas and was hated by almost every team I played for and against right?"
Customer: "Just put the fries in the bag man"
Yup. Kofi gave up millions be leaving before NIL kicked inHunter Dickinson was never a 1st round draft pick. At best he'd have gone mid-2nd round and at worst he'd have ended up like Kofi. In his particular situation, staying was the right move. He made a bunch of money at Kansas and got a 2-way deal, which is what he would have gotten if he'd been drafted in the mid to late 2nd round anyway.
To be fair to Kofi, NIL then was not what it is now. I think reports are that he was offered around $1 million. Still probably more than he makes annually in South Korea, but a great deal less than what he'd have gotten in the market Dickinson got to enjoy.Yup. He had two years left. Easily would have gotten $1M and then likely $2M the next year.To be fair to Kofi, NIL then was not what it is now. I think reports are that he was offered around $1 million. Very possible, just saying that HD probably made more even than that, and at the time Kofi was making his decision he could not have known his NIL deal could very well double in value the next season. He had two years left. Easily would have gotten $1M and then likely $2M the next year.
But there's not guarantee it would have been in an Illinois uniform. In fact, it's likely it wouldn't given that the biggest paydays seem to come when players jump schools. He had two years left. Easily would have gotten $1M and then likely $2M the next year.
This is true, but it’s also true that we probably had enough money to keep him if we wanted. But there's not guarantee it would have been in an Illinois uniform. In fact, it's likely it wouldn't given that the biggest paydays seem to come when players jump schools.
And for those who are adamant that Kofi would have been loyal, remember that he entered the portal while he was in the draft. You really think he wasn't entertaining offers on the side before deciding to come back to Champaign?
Don’t know anything about salary situation of either, but strictly from a basketball perspective seems like a decent trade for Bulls. They need to get better defensively and have a glut of guards. Good landing spot for Ball too.
Didn't want to start a new thread but Hunter Dickinson was not drafted. I am certain everyone will be heart broken over that!
This team is allergic to draft picks.
Yep, they’d rather finish play-in game, tail end of the lottery than reset. This team is allergic to draft picks.

They got 0 picks for Caruso from OKC. They traded back for cash this year. Cant miss in the draft if you don't pickSupposedly they could have gotten picks from Memphis for Lonzo before the trade deadline last season but passed.
All teams need two-way players. Not many teams trading them away for nothing. Not sure what you think they were going to get for Ball. Too many question marks surrounding him. And we’re talking about a guy who had a value over replacement player of 0.4 this past year. Hey look, that’s the same as Okoro. Okoro’s career zero in that area is because he was something like -1.7 his first year. Since then he’s been at or above zero. Not great I know, but living in Ohio I watch a fair amount of Cavs ball, and he’s a useful player. That's part of the problem though. The Bulls need two-way players. Coby and Giddey are liabilities on the defensive end. While Okoro can help on the defensive end, he adds absolutely nothing to the Bulls offensively. For his career, Okoro's Value Over Replacement Player is...

Don't like that as a Bulls fan, but honestly might be better for Ayo to go to an organization that is actually trying to win and knows how to do it.
