It was a sham of a way to break Kobe’s record (as a biased Kobe fan)It was a lot of, let’s just say, interesting fouling at the end
36/43 from the FT line is crazy.I know he isn’t an Illini. But he did what??!!??
with 2 rookie Illini on the court.
Yep...43 fga's, 43 fta's. Nobody else on team took more than 9 shots or free throws.43 free throw attempts too lol wow
Kobe's last 7 points all came on FTs and everyone else on the Lakers basically stopped shooting the entire 4th quarter. In Wilt's 100 pt game his team was just letting the Knicks score so they get more possessions and attempts for Wilt and intentionally fouling to extend the game. All of these crazy score games are "shams" in that way, but 83 is still 83.It was a sham of a way to break Kobe’s record (as a biased Kobe fan)
Are there any other examples of something similar in any other sport? Have football teams let the other team score, for example, so the QB could pass for more yards?Kobe's last 7 points all came on FTs and everyone else on the Lakers basically stopped shooting the entire 4th quarter. making intentional outs in baseball on a rainy day when you are leading so that the game becomes official instead of a rain outAre there any other examples of something similar in any other sport? Have football teams let the other team score, for example, so the QB could pass for more yards?
1.93 points per shot attempt.
Keaton Wagler against Purdue: 2.71
I always like to see something like TS% or pts per true shooting attempt (FGA+0.475*FTA, or 0.44 for the NBA because the typical ratio is different), since fouls on missed shots obscure actual shot attemptsTbh, my brain can’t even compute where to evaluate 43 free throws in all of this
sack record in football. people complained about Strahan's last sack.... not exactly the same but similar. Are there any other examples of something similar in any other sport? Have football teams let the other team score, for example, so the QB could pass for more yards?

also I would say a no hitter where the pitcher walks a bunch of batters and/or pitches a ton of pitches just to finish the game
There is a huge difference in 20 total free throws for Kobe versus 43 for BamKobe's last 7 points all came on FTs and everyone else on the Lakers basically stopped shooting the entire 4th quarter. And the Wizards could have not fouled? Is it his fault that they did? Was he supposed to intentionally miss the FTs to keep things more "pure?" Was he just supposed to sit out the game to intentionally not get more points than Kobe? There is a huge difference in 20 total free throws for Kobe versus 43 for Bam
Yes it's a movie and no I don't know if it 100% reflects reality. When I have researched this in the past, it said the kickoff coverage was true but the end-of-game sack was not. But this was a play to gain an extra possession so that a defender could play. Are there any other examples of something similar in any other sport? but, lets be honest. is anyone really surprised they didnt get this right? The Bulls fired the front office!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They should have fired them before they made all the stupid trades.
Pretty great start to the play-in tournament tonight
Did anybody else wake up a little sorer than usual and feeling like they had aged overnight? Thought maybe I had just slept wrong, but then I remembered something Gritty wrote back in Feb. in the now locked (not sure why) Bulls thread.
“All of their own firsts, plus a lottery protected Portland first (which was traded to the Bulls in the Lauri Markannen deal in 2021, has not coverted and if you know anything about the Blazers absolutely will not convert until 2028, at which point it converts as a second rounder, see what I said above about the myth of the "first rounder" being a good trade return).”
Turns out I had aged overnight and it is 2028. Thankfully we have a board member who knows Portland so well or I would still be flummoxed.![]()
