I believe outside of very late high school committing for that upcoming year all transfer portal stuff would be finished. Remember they are moving to a transfer portal windows and not just all summer/year.No opinion on it one way or the other as I don't know much about it, but a few questions:
Will rosters have settled in time for summer?
What's the draw if there are no implications for the season (other than injuries)?
Does this interfere with AAU or other established summer ball? Seems like this failed in an earlier version partly for that reason.
One location for the entire country seems like a really bad idea for recruiting camps.
I also wonder what the NCAA's motivation are --they haven't always done what's best for "student athletes"
Im sure $$$ are involvedNo opinion on it one way or the other as I don't know much about it, but a few questions:

Love the idea but... what if injuries cause a player to miss the regular season....think of preseason NFL...good players usually don't play for this reason.....
Damn 15 years ago I’d have had a chanceLieb + Walk Ons + IMPE All-Stars = summer team?
I'm sort of amazed an Illini fan is asking this question. No opinion on it one way or the other as I don't know much about it, but a few questions:

Seriously. Think about all the posts on here during the off-season, how every clip of players practicing is meticulously dissected, and we talk endlessly about potential lineups. I was initially pretty meh about the whole idea, but let's be real, if you're currently reading this forum, let alone posting in it, you'll absolutely pay attention to a summer league.I'm sort of amazed an Illini fan is asking this question.

Not do I, but I do scour the board for details on exhibition games. And these are games we are talking about.Meh, I don't pay much attention to practice reports either.
But you do post about them.Meh, I don't pay much attention to practice reports either.
But you do post about them.

Oh, I'm sure there's some level of hypocrisy in most of my posts
I feel like State Farm currently has an ad campaign about thisI'd appreciate reports from exhibition games against good opponents who are playing a solid mix of players. The reports from when they play weaker opponents -- weak teams, or player 6-13 on another team -- or if it is just our bench playing, don't seem to convey much. The coaches can learn a lot from those games. I don't have the time/inclination to watch them.
As a data point:
- I read the forum regularly, and post occasionally.
- I will on occasion go find/watch tape of a recruit who is generating noise and has supposed strong mutual interest to attend IL.
- I often don't watch the scheduled powder-puff games (opponents ranked 200+ on sagarin/kenpom).
I do not plan to watch any of: Eastern IL, KC, Lindenwood, Alabama A&M, Bethune-Cookman. Monmouth is a fine, ease your way in, opponent.
I think it was Snickers.I feel like State Farm currently has an ad campaign about this
This has a long way to go, but there are discussions:
FWLIW, I'm all for it. Moar hoops.
