Since Beard got unfairly snubbed, probably due to an unfair bias against teams below .500 (even when they're coached by the bestest coach ever!), the winner of this game gets to ne our coach when Indy gets his wish:

I'm not thrilled about the possibility of facing Houston (arguably the strongest 2+ seed) again after 2022, but it's interesting to see that betting odds have us at the top of the 3+ seeds, and even above two No. 2 seeds (Purdue and UConn).

There is not even a guarantee that Houston makes it out of first weekend. Are they favored to, yes. However, they have also had some rough patches in mid-Feb. Let the madness begin!
They play St Mary’s

Iowa State, for example, has to go up against Kentucky.

UConn plays UCLA (with a healthy dent and Bilodeau; hopefully)

Why waste energy reevaluating? Just will it to be so, instead.

I think St. Mary's is better than Kentucky...

I think Kentucky loses to Santa Clara.

I DO NOT think houston loses though. But I actually am somewhat intrigued by a few of the things St. Mary's does well and how it matches with them - I've been burned by St. Mary's hopes before in March. So i wont predict that.

St. Mary's is no slouch. I would not be surprised to see them make it a game against Houston. They were playing very good basketball before losing to Santa Clara last week (had 8 game win streak, including a win over Gonzaga). Their Net is actually wedged between Kansas and BYU at #23. I still expect Houston to win, but I see no reason to worry about Houston in Houston...yet. A lot of fun basketball to play.

IMO, Kentucky is likely an easier game for Iowa State than Houston.

Clark Kellog predicts Purdue to the the Final Four from the West...

No Way Reaction GIF
Purdue is going to have to play Miami FL, or Mizzou….no cakewalk and than possibly Gonzaga even though they are not that great and Zona. Kind of tough if they revert back to how they were playing at the end of the regular season imo.

They're not getting helped by being forced into a road game vs Missouri. How does that happen?
After the first few seeds, the committee will prioritize less travel for teams while maintaining competitive balance. It's also why 13 seed Cal Baptist is playing in San Diego, 90 miles from campus. It really doesn't offset the balance all that much, and teams save money on travel to participate.
