NCAA Tournament

I know this isn't a ticket thread but it is a tourny story ... the mad rush for 16/8 tickets is over. Strategy was simple - buy 4 tickets to each of the four Elite 8 games and sell the three non-Illini games once NCAA announces 16/8 game info. By 9:30 had one window open for each game using laptop (my wife) and desktop (me). Adrenaline rush beforehand ... before 10 am you enter lobby. at 10 am you entered queue (it told you how many in front of you), then on your turn you select tickets. On your turn it often tells you someone beat to those seats. When its your turn we just clicked the first seats that came up .... if lucky and get Next, you enter card info. Numerous times it gave us a "processing error - its us not you" and kicked you back to queue. Well punchline is somehow by 10:20 we had succeeded!!! ... only to find out that we had bought three sets of tickets for Mar 29 South Lucas court and one set for Mar 30 North -arghh. We then bought one set for 30 South. We also have one set to sweet 16 May 27 Bankers game 2. Hoping Illini are Mar 29 South.

lol had my entire family on doing the same exact thing. hopefully ticketmaster lets us resell the tickets for the 3/4 games we don't need (and pray to everything that illinois advances to that game)

Gonzaga has played exactly 1 (one) team with zero let up, 'punch you in the mouth' defense this season. That was their closest win of the season beating Huggy Bear WVU by 5. They are certainly beatable by a team that can combine that kind of D with an offensive threat. They are without question legit, but they haven't really been challenged much, as mentioned before me.

They won't get challenged much in their bracket either. Maybe OKlahoma, maybe tournament KU revenge game...but they won't see a serious physical team until maybe the Final Four.

Kansas is a much better defensive team than WVU.

True but I don't think Gonzaga is a team full of chumps. They don't crawl into a hole because of a little physicality and ball pressure. At least based on the metrics, what they have yet to see is a defense that is both physical and can force you to take tough 2s.

As it currently stands, they have the highest 2 point FG% in history. A big part of that is the WCC heavy schedule but they're also just darn good at making 2s.

Are we allowed to share bracket links in here? I've got a Superbowl style Squares board that still has about 40 spots to fill.

Positive test within G.Tech travel party. Asymptomatic. Traveled separately from team. No details on who exactly.

Anyone know if teams get tested again, before games start???

I thought if there was a positive test then teams disqualified??

I hope this guy gets paid in some way for doing this. Otherwise it's one hell of a hobby.

I filled out my bracket, called “Win it all for Lou.” I absolutely think this time has a better shot at winning the big one than the ’05 team did. More depth, not living and dying with the 3, better coaching, and a true inside presence. My bracket reflects that and it is actually justified! National title game final score prediction tiebreaker: 75-70, Illinois. 😉
Can appreciate the tie break score! I have been using 75-70 for my brackets too. (Also, insert the obligatory long time lurking, recently registered, first time poster.) I-L-L!

I think the requirement is that the team needs five players ...so, if one tests positive, they contact trave, they're removed and play on if they have five.

ILLINI IN NE

Omaha,Ne.
Since a lot of people have asked about bracket challenges, I have created the following group if anybody wants to play along. It's public and you should be limited to one bracket that, if I follow correctly, must be submitted before the official start of the tournament on Thursday:

Whether you fill out the bracket in time or not, I have some fun questions, with my answers below.

1) Who do you have in your final four? Why?
2) How far do you have Illinois making it, and, if you don't have them going all the way, who trips them up and why?
3) Will the ghost of Adam Morrison appear dancing on the scoring table while wiping away tears of joy this time if Gonzaga wins? (Oh, who is in your final and who wins it all?)

1) Gonzaga, Michigan (I know), Oklahoma State, and Baylor; edit (I legitimately think these are the four best teams, with the exception of the Illini; one of the top 4 seeds likely won't make it...and I'm guessing it's us.)
2) Sweet 16, upset by OSU. Dominant players make a difference, Baylor is good, and OSU's victory tells me the team is catching fire at the right time.
3) No. Morrison isn't dead, for one. The *actual* Adam Morrison will be there, and he will not cry when his team loses a squeaker to Oklahoma State 88-84.

I hope I'm wrong, but I remember reading this about the 2005 team: "Any team can get picked off in the tournament, but this team is something special." I think this year's team is equally "something special," just have a hunch they will get tripped up by a player who seems ready to go off.
Sorry...quit reading when I saw your final four.

I did note that it claims Drexel's interior defense is awful, so this should be a feast for Kofi.
Hope so. For what its worth, this will be the first time the Illini have ever played Drexel. Ever. Obvioulsy should be a win, but not a game to look past.
