There’s an alternate universe where Aaron Bailey is the star red shirt senior QB for this team instead of on injured reserve with the Baltimore Ravens.

Yeah, I was on board until the bolded portion.

"Coach, take me out, I can't do it."

We have ridiculed quite a few other players for quitting on the team in the past, now you're asking someone to do it? I'm not sure you understand how this all should work.

There is a difference between quitting and doing whats best for the team. True leaders put the team ahead of themselves. I think Crouch is such a leader and we don't know what is happening behind the scene.

Please cite specific examples of this ever happening.

While a player may believe the team would be better off with someone else if the coaches keep reinforcing that you are what's best then you have to act accordingly. I can't see a player wanting to give up a starting roll on a team. Ultimately it is up to the coaches to decide what is best for the team and communicate that to the players.

It is not likely that any player with the ability to play at a high level would ever have so little confidence that he would think someone else could do a better job. So little confidence would surely inhibit their ability to play at that level.
