I have a very very senior connection to the BigTen corporate offices. The refs 100% orchestrate the outcome of games. It’s the secret that isn’t a secret, and usually they’re good enough to not be noticed by calling a relatively even game that’s catered to one team’s style. It’s also more common that they help the desired outcome via what isn’t called via what is.

went back and re-watched the play where the level 2 was called. The original foul was not even called until after Davis had taken 2 additional steps and started to stumble and likely contributed to the defender still going aggressively after the ball handler. If the call is made with initial contact, the offensive player possibly does not take the shot to the rim and the defender does not feel compelled to continue to pursue.

Only baseball game I ever got tossed from: looking back at the ump after an at bat where the strike zone inexplicably became the size of a barn door.

It’s an ego/power play.
Similarly, only game I ever got tossed was a baseball game as well where the ump was shaving both corners on me where the strike zone for the other team was a country mile, so I purposely crossed up my catcher- he called the low breaking ball and I threw the high fastball that did clip the ump. He tossed me (rightfully so) and I walked off saying, "Ump you've seen I can't hit the strike zone all day, if you think I beaned you on purpose, then according to you, that's the first ball I've thrown accurately all game." Good times.

What is the point of supporting the Big Ten is this is true?

The reality is that everyone in the sport has known teams have paid players and their families for decades.

Coach K and Duke have been paying players since the 80s all the way through Zion Williamson. There is no such thing as promoting a program to the point they no longer ‘need’ to pay players.

UNC had a fake major setup, and everyone knew about it. You can’t keep something like that a secret.

Penn State knowingly employed a pedophile, and Paterno knew that children were being raped in his locker room. It wasn’t a secret.

The list goes on.

Too much ego and no accountability makes for an absolutely horrendous ref. Exhibit one of many in the B10: Larry Scirotto. Who thinks they can continue to ref a couple of B10 games every week while still running the Ft. Lauderdale police department? The city manager should be fired for even considering hiring that fool that was just fired for hiring discrimination.

Until the B10 figures out 1) that the league officiating puts their teams at a disadvantage in the post season and 2) elite basketball athletes do not want to play the B10 style to get to the next level, the league will continue its drought in the post season.

Entirely believable. This has been my belief for many years. You have to try to be as bad as B10 refs have been for years. Obvious the league orchestrates close games and attempts to maximize NCAA participants at the expense of really good teams throughout the years.

got an idea for a pay per view event: Curbello v Verge. One on one at some school yard baskets.
