Also notice that lately 6'9'' Ben can't even make those little fadeaway jumpers close to the basket.
Really not been hitting them most of the year. It's like he doesn't compensate for fading away or just not strong enough to make them with any consistency.

We shot 11 more threes than twos and made less than 24% of them! We shot twice as many threes in OT than twos and made 0 of them! I mean, are you freakin kidding me with that "strategy?" We can't drive the ball against a team who's tallest players are 6-6/6-7? Man that's some embarrassing $hit right there by our guys. LOL

I think it’s important to put this team into perspective compared to last year:

Last Year: 16-5 Overall / 7-3 Big 10 / 3-4 Q1 Games

This Year: 14-7 Overall / 6-5 Big 10 / 4-6 Q1 Games

We’re not THAT far off from last year. Yes the vibes were definitely better, but this team has so much more up and down. Hopefully we can go on a little run and get good vibes for March 🤞
We’ve just not shown the toughness to go on a “run,” which fundamentally requires consistency, focus and mental toughness. :/

Welcome to the roller coaster!!!

I'm still backing this team and excited for March! Why? Because they play hard and they care, just struggling to make winning plays right now. But we've still got a month to figure it out.

You know in a horror movie where the one character has witnessed like five inexplicably horrifying things but he’s clinging to this desperate notion that it was just the wind and this nightmare situation will all be explained eventually in a rational way that jives with the worldview he held previously?

The signs are slapping you in the face. Our issues are deeper than Tomislav being out, and you need to try not to notice them to think we’re fine.

This makes me sad because it's means the evaluation was bad. I think it was bad on Boswell too.

The reality is that you simply can't replace 99% of your roster and expect any continuity, any depth or any real experience. We have literally one legitimate big outside of Tomi and that's Morez. Ben is the next best thing, which I'm sure he's getting the minutes he's getting. Having him in on the last play was probably to help spread the floor or potentially get a rebound/putback? No clue.
The take on Boswell is harsh. You seriously cannot be putting Humrichous and Boswell in the same category. Minus the bonehead turnovers and minus the games where he was the lead guard while KJ was out, he has been a solid addition as KJ's Robin

Nobody will listen bc I’m not an “insider” but enough! Brad has brought a WINNING program here. Ben has been a miss so far. He might turn it around or he might not. Brad took an educated guess at him. All you can do in this era. These “know it all’s” seem to know which guy will fit and which one won’t. Then why aren’t they coaching at a high level D-1 program? It’s a crap shoot at this point with strategic guesses. Flat out. This teams ceiling is crazy. It might flame out(odds say it will) but it might make a run. Jesus Christ, let Brad figure it out and determine if it was a good gamble or not!?

People keep posting stuff like this as though last year's team didn't get red hot late in the season and wildly exceed any reasonable expectation.

Brad in the presser said Will just got over the flu. Whatever that is worth.

I hadn't really followed all the hype on KJ pre-season. But everything I heard, he was the next Michael Jordan in an Illini uniform. I was pretty darn excited. I'm not saying he's not good and that he won't be great.

But right now, I don't see how he's a top 25 pick. Then again, I'm not an NBA scout.

What was the percentage on free throws? One stinking additional free throw made and we win this in regulation. All free throws are uncontested. It’s the most repeatable play in basketball. You’ve been shooting them since you were six. Make the damned free throws.

I don't understand why we can't write a NIL contract that doesn't guarantee PT, or, if it must, use wording like "you are guaranteed XX minutes/game PT, unless you $uck."

Humrichous plays so much because of the money he is making... If you are the big $$ donor(s) who wrote big $$ checks (as in several hundreds of thousands) because Brad told you "We need this guy to compete for titles" and then he sits for 2/3rds of the game, will you be writing checks next year when Brad tells you "We need this guy to compete for titles"? If it was me I would put winning above all else, but there's a reason Brad doesn't come to me for money (I don't have any). Not saying it's right, but it's the reason

Crazy to think we were getting hopes up for a 2 or 3 seed. Time to just hope we stay good enough to make the tournament and get hot in March. Still gonna root for this team and watch all the games…but…something ain’t working right now, for sure/

Surprised the fanbase is so silent on how much KJ is costing us with his awful TO's and how careless he is with the ball. I know the dude is a stud talent wise, but he shouldn't be immune from criticism. To be fair, Brad has already crowned him the next messiah with his praise and flowers for KJ.

I love the kid, but at some point he needs tough coaching..

A couple of changes I would like to see Brad to make.

1. Pull Ben from starting lineup. Might help in two ways. Someone else getting more play and Ben gets going coming off the bench.

2. Put a limit on kylan Boswell threes. He is more likely to shoot us out of a game than help us.
Ben should've been pulled in early December. He's not pulling him. We're stuck with him. I will admit that I have softened up my stance on Tre White as he does do many of the little things despite his offensive inconsistencies but the real heat should have always been on Humrichous

On the last possession in regulation WR needs to take that to the basket and shoot over a small defender - he needs to be aware of the situation. he was moving his feet to be behind the three point line instead of just going to the rim- so many lost chances

Also- why in the world would Brad call a timeout knowing Nebraska had three fouls to give? just hold it and go under 10 seconds and they wouldn’t have been as organized about giving fouls- I know he got ripped at MSU for not calling timeout but this was a different situation that didn’t need a timeout - after they use their fouls call a timeout to get a play in. Instead we had no play at the end for the last shot

He was awful tonight - I think everyone saw that

Why is that the case though? The NIL money is a sunk cost, so why not just put the best players on the floor? Do coaches have to go out of their way to try to justify the money spent so donors don't feel like they wasted their money? If so, that isn't going to work.
Ultimately, most donors are paying for wins, not players. The means to do that is to find the acquisition of players, but I imagine most just want wins. The issue will arise if we make too many poor acquisitions.

Or maybe they're less rational thanni would expect. Who knows? Not me.

IMHO the Illini that transferred somewhere else who couldn't have been stopped by Nebraska was Dainja. He ate this kind of team up! He would have had 10 dunks tonight. Again IMHO

Not that it makes any difference, he isn't here.

Serious question- Do some of these NIL deals guarantee money you haven’t earned AND playing time you haven’t earned?
