ya, this kind of crap from Brad ain't it... I'd argue our Illini beat reporters do a good job but are arguably a little too "kid gloves" with the questions sometimes. The fact that Brad got defensive and isn't taking full responsibility for how terrible his team is right now... just oozes arrogance
When the TSJ legal situation was going on, Piper asked Brad a question about the situation that I thought was pretty tame and BU was very short with him. There’s something that happened that Brad doesn’t seem to care for Piper.

Is it possible he's aware that Tyler might be the problem and that's where this is coming from? Brad seems to have no issue putting the blame on himself, but do we ever see him put blame on his staff?

I certainly don't think I've ever heard him call out the staff before.

Publicly dumping in your staff is poor leadership. I'd be concerned if Brad did that. He's in charge and the buck ultimately stops with him. Address issues with your underlings in private.

It’s time to pull an NHL coaching move and yank the starting goalie to send a message.
F$ck the NIL bs.
Sunday starters should be KJ, DGL, Riley, Tre, and Rez.
Boswell to spell KJ and DGL, and BH off the bench.

I just might join my brother in a one week Illinois sports blackout.

So you admit BU is doing better at adjusting, lol.

You should not expect a team to outplay the opponents when up by a large margin at half - so I am excluding all wins of more than 20 points here (OR, IU, PSU included).

Oakland - up by 7 at half, won by 12.
Alabama- down by 14 at half, lost by 13.
Arkansas - up by 15 at half, won by 13.
NW - up by 3 at half, went to OT.
Wisc. - up by 4 at half, won by 6.
Tenn. - down by 1 at half, lost by 2.
MO - up by 5, won by 3.
WA - up by 9 at half, won by 4.
USC - up by 3, lost by 10.
MSU - tied at half, lost by 2.
Maryland - down by 3, lost by 19.
NW - up by 22, won by 9.
Neb - down by 9, went to OT.

In the two highlighted games we were significantly outperformed in the second half and the coaching staff may be deserving of some criticism. But the other games not so much. I didn't highlight the NW game because we were up 19 with 2:40 to play - the late game surge by NW is not on the coaching staff (i.e. Will handing the ball to the opposing team under the basket and the team allowing unchallenged 3pt shots).
Yeah, I think the in-game adjustment complaint may be overdone, but to he fair we don't have to wait until halftime to adjust. And its not always a 1st half/2nd half thing. The first NW game, we were up by 10 halfway through the 2nd. NW made an adjustment and our response was to let them back in and watch it slip away. We didn't need an adjustment until well after halftime, but we did need one.

I think the bigger thing that concerns me is the entire plan for our offense appears to need adjustment. Not in-game, but pre-game. The heavy volume 3s are just not working on any consistent basis. And there has been no attempt to figure out a plan B in that regard.

I’m just talking about defense. It becomes easier to score on Illinois over the course of a game. Not just an overall trend if you were to aggregate all games, but the graph of opponents’ efficiency for individual games all resemble a 5-year look back at an index fund. (From a paid analytics site, so can’t post them, not that anyone is that interested.)
Maybe it means nothing. My hypothesis is that we aren’t countering stuff that works against us.

What is the paid analytics site you're using?

Reed Shephard is in the G league. Granted the Rockets are loaded, but I think KJ will be there next year to in order to fix the ball handling issues he has. At 6’6 some smaller NBA guards will be able to play up close and under him and that will disrupt his game. Plus he’s only 18. He’s got time to develop. Not many NBA teams are going to put a 19 year old into the rotation
On KJ agree with your takes.

Will be really interesting watching him against Dukes' Cooper Flagg...

EvanMiya.

Interesting as I'm not seeing the difference nearly as pronounced as you are, but admittedly we are using different metrics

Ediit: Also weird, I just paid for it since it was only 5 dollars, but not finding any metrics by half (site isn't the easiest to navigate)
