After watching the Illini today they will probably have 7-10 Ls this season. I like our Bigs but they kinda soft this team has no Dogs on the roster. Bam Bos is semi Dog but he disappears at times. I thought Tomi had some Dog in him but I'm rethinking that evaluation now sadly.
You can’t pin fault on the players without asking how in the world do you let a run of the mill player light you up for 26 points in the first HALF before you make some ADJUSTMENTS?

I can’t overemphasize how confused and lost we looked on defense in the final 10 minutes. Honestly, the whole game. I think there were multiple possessions where our guards were clearly in a zone but our bigs would switch into man. Guys are pointing, turning around, pushing each other back into matchups, getting lost on switches. Total lack of communication. All of that stuff is 100% avoidable. It’s not for lack of effort — it’s lack of preparedness, and it’s mostly on the coaching staff. For all we drill rebounding in practice, there HAS to be a greater emphasis on having multiple looks to throw at your opponent defensively where all 5 guys are in sync. I’ve never seen so many blown assignments and lay-ups for a team.

This team will clawed back that's for sure. Got to be more consistent on defense cause defense is really hampering this team badly. And Tomi needs to show up and get out of whatever this funk he's in. Scoring your first point of the game with 17 seconds to go in regulation is unacceptable. We need Tomi at his best.

One sure way to avoid losses in games like this is to avoid playing in them: you do that by playing like Indiana football does (and apparently Michigan hoops does this year): destroy the opponent every single possession, so it's not a close game at the end. Don't sit back thinking "we'll show 'em at the end."

The talent isn't there on that end IMO.

I lost all hope for possible zone when it wasn't practiced during those buy games

I wouldn't blow the redshirt if I'm him but Rodgers return would be huge. Surprised we're not seeing more of Lee for solely defense possessions

This was a game to pound down low. That didn't happen. Don't even know if we saw Mirk in 2nd half
You gotta have Dog in you to care and embrace the defensive side of the ball. Brad built this team to outscore people obviously but you need championship level defense to win in March. I like the Bigs but after today they are officially in Charmin territory IMO. You cant let Sandfort have 26 before the half on your home floor. But we have nobody on this roster that can lock a guy up consistently we need Trent Frazier back again :D

You think this was bad. Wait until Michigan beats our brains in. We are regressing

My last rant for this one. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Brad is EXACTLY what bitter Illini fans used to say Bill Self was. Great recruiter, poor to mediocre bench coach. The irony of that isn't lost on me lol.

I cannot get behind these underwood teams defensive schemes. This is bad for my mental health. We let teams get in rhythm more than any other school. Our philosophy is more based on 'lets hope they miss shots that aren't high percentages' and we bite on way too many pump fakes. I just think don't think we develop guys defensively enough. This Nebraska team isn't terrible but they're not going to beat most good teams.
I thought it was Hamer's fault?

We simply could not stop Nebraska's offense today. That in a nutshell is who we are, so we gotta live with it and tip your cap to the better team!!
The frustration is that the “Nebraska offense” in the first half was almost entirely one previously average player who lit us up for 26 in the first half and our defense coaching staff had NO ANSWER

Chill all. We played great. You can’t do much when a team shoots crazy like that. These games happen and you roll with the punches—-on to the next one.
We played great in spurts. If we played the majority of the game with the same intensity we win by 10.

Let’s be real: 12 for 26 from three pt is undoubtedly a freak scenario. In ANY high major college basketball game.

That being said, would like to see us be more disciplined when it does happen.

I guess Petrovic is a 0 minute player now. 1 minute last game and 0 this game.

Wagler played all 40 minutes which is insane for a freshman. Cant say he didn’t deserve it. 19 points / 10 assists
